It was a great day, only problem I had was I had to work so I didn't get there till late so I wasn't allowed to take the Pop in to the arena it was parked in the car park opposite all on it's own :( . Saw some fantastic OSF's though, which made it all better :D

was a wicked day, went up in convoy with the BHRA from kent, collected (don't cringe) a Vauxhall Velox that had broken down on the road in. Hooked it on the back of the van and towed it, and got to park on the show site lol. saved the walk anyways! one good thing about owning a transit at least....

I think wheels day 2007 waa the best show I've ever been to - never seen so many different cars in one place - spent hours just walking around looking at them all. Only bugger was that the batteries in my camera died so only got like 4 photos. Boo Hiss Boo!

el sumo - perfect Gentleman, very nice man.:beer:

Arrived at Tesco's wondering who to look for, the man himself indicated where to park & introduced everyone to everyone as each arrived.

- wasted as a Trucker M8, you should be an events organiser!!!

Very nice to put names to faces, Chris (niiice Corty Est), Mr & Mrs Ratman, BigKev, James P, Driver, Marky4, & of course Mk2Jo :ykt:

Sorry to hear you sold the Granny ,please let me know when you have the trim i need

Just one thing that peeed me off was the nymber of non classic /custom cars getting in for example a bashed up E reg Micra ,Bloody loads of Pt CRAp Criusers and the bloke next me in a bog standard Jeep Cherokee with chrome number plate surrounds !

Hope Surrey Street Rodders sort this out ,because i saw plenty of good cars parked outside that couldnt get in !!!

Focus:

CapriClive & me had a discussion about this. Nice 1970's stylee paint, but on a Max tinker lol/Lax Power car - Why? (& the owner sat in it all day , not viewing anyone elses car - each to their own, but I go to show my car & see what everyone else has brought to pick up ideas & positively comment on someone else's hard work)

We both agreed that Wheels is the ultimate start of the season show - FOR YANK/BRIT CLASSICS & CUSTOMS. (not plastic fantastic Burger King racers)

Agree that Surrey Rodders need to sort out what gets onto the showground given that:

- Owners/Public expect Yank/Brit Classics

- Proper classics get turned back by Plod as the show is fully booked by mid-morning

...Rant over, I'll get my coat :thumbsup::ykt:

I can see what you're saying about this but where do they draw the line?

it has always been 'wheels day', not hotrod or classic day. I spoke to them a few years back when rusty olf Fiestas started turning up with thousands of pounds worth sound system annoying everyone. Luckily that only happened the one year although I think the kid in that Focus wanted to give us all a taste of his music.

This year my mate took his freshly finished '57 Chevy pickup (on the NSRA stand), my wife drove her '72 1300xl Mk1 escort that we restored a few years ago and I took my '05 Ram Daytona Hemi. Her Escort got lots of comments and admiring looks which she was thrilled about. The Chevy again pleased a lot people prompting much conversation and even my Ram had people looking around and in it. Some people just love modern Yank stuff, as I quite do too....but yes, even a stock jeep doesn't do it for me, but maybe he thinks the same of mine or a stock Cortina??. maybe my Ram shouldn't've been allowed on the show ground but it gave pleasure to some, and isn't that what wheels day is all about?

Me personally, I avoid the PT cruiser club area which they kindly mark with a big flag and walk straight past stuff like the focus. But I love looking at everything from Model A ratrods to 100e's with monster motors.

VW campers etc don't float my boat but I know they have a massive following, especially the older 'surfer dude' type ones, so that's cool.

I guess they're going to need a massive step up in the organsation department after having road closed on them this year. I for one hope it doesn't change how Wheels Day is run 'cause it's a fantastic day out and the best possible start to the show season.

I do agree with comments made but surely the the event is known "surrey street rodders wheelsday"

So many shows have been ruined in this fashion, the debate is that the organisers need to agree to a principle of what is allowed ,ie Pre 90s cars only ,no massive groups of late model clubs (pt cruisers),etc etc

This is all easy to do and would make wheelsday even better than this years

Im not saying that the Pt cruisers cant have a show but Wheelsday was a proper old skool event and should remain that way

I dont see why anyone with a Brand new 07 Alpina Bmw should be allowed on the in field . im sure a lot of you see that car on site .

The focus is a funny one, kind of custom ,but not old enough really to be there or is it ?

I have noticed many old custom cars reappearing at these shows ,many have been around 30years ,many have been rebuilt many times .

These guys deserve some support from the people like ourselves who keep these cars alive for future generations to enjoy

Saying that i had a good day and will be back next year bright and early in my Granny hopefully and may the sun shine !!!!
