It cost a fortune to build, I saw it in the early stages of the resto. I think its able to compete in the historic rallies & that makes it worth more.

it was for sale on one of the race car sites for £50k.

 

A proper MK2 will cost this much, a new car by someone like prepfab with good bits can start at 45k, state of the art 65k+, an Eaton Yale works car sold for 45k recently, & one of the MK2's driven by a big name sold for £85k. But stack it up against running an Imprezza, Focus or Evo & they're cheap.

 

A neighbour of my dad runs an evo which cost £150k & that's no where near top spec - 5k for front brakes is madness.

 

Back to the catrol car - that's the car I was going to steal the graphic scheme from for mine.
