When you mix the bits of sand (which gets everywhere) with the oil it turns into Satan's Spunk Sludge...all in the sills...sticks to everything...yuk!

Which is why I prefer chemical dipping. Less stressful on the metal. No medium to hoover up and cheaper. "Satan's spunk sludge" lol

How do the two compare cost wise? My sisters Beetle was sandblasted many years ago, and cost about £300. I think prices have gone up now though.

Shotblasting cost me £250, that included the bloke picking it up, bringing it back and primering it... very good price in my opinion. Dipping it is a lot more expensive i think, but I don't have any knowledge on which is better. Although I dislike the aformentioned spunk sludge, I'm prepared to put up with it, as I'd rather spend a little time with a hose gaffa-taped to a hoover sucking up all the sludge than hours and hours sanding the bastard down!
