cortinaman Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Hi folks I've got an old Epco trolley jack - massive heavy beast dating from the fifties or sixties. Anyway, the seals have gone and it doesn't lift anymore. A local hydraulic refurbishing place has quoted me £320 to refurb it. Is it worth it? Or should I get a new one for half that? I don't want to throw away such a nicely made bit of kit but £320 sounds a bit steep. Anyone either know of a cheaper place for refurbing jacks or advice on a new one? (I need a pretty high lift on me jack!) Thanks in advance.
Smudger105e Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 just take them the ram and ask them to put new seals in it, much cheaper than having the whole thing refurbed.
Rick Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 bloody hell is it somet special??? most our jacks are £5-10 at boot sales do the job perfect, if anything just need topping up wit oil
V8ian Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Funny thing, today I was looking for somwhere to get a seal kit for my Bradbury Jack, and I found this place, and its about 2 mins from my house Mathew and Son[Jack repairs], 45 Cardey road , Hemel Hempstead, 01442,212167 dunno how good they are, but I have been told to go to their workshop, and they will sort something out for me Ian
Slik 50 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 seems a little steep just for a few rubber seals

cortinaman Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 not pirtek is it paul. ? No its Kingston Hydraulic Engineers in broad street. They have quoted me £41 + VAT for a seal kit, so I 'm not sure where the remaining £250 comes from - surely its just a case of replacing seals?
V8ian Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I wen up to see the fella today, and got my seal kit for my Bradbury for £15.00, and what an intresting little yard, I spotted a ratty Ford Pop, a 4door Avenger, AMC Javalin, A big Fordson truck, and more but it was so wet to go climbing accross cars,
