hi all me name is andy i spend hours looking through all the old ford stuff and have been a member 4 a while.iv had a mk1 cortina for over 20 yrs but have recently sold it and got another mk1 cortina gt 2 door..im 40 and kinda now my way round the cortinas..

my question is i no a bit about mk1 escorts but dont quote people when they say ya iv got a genuine this n that..but iv been offered a mk1 escort in pretty good condition.its an rs 2000 but i no a bit about the avo 49 shell and this one deffenatly aint the correct shell..can someone answer other questions like trim cos he says it true trim not all rs had the fabric seats etc and there is no mention of rs on the log book.he has a tag with bfat stamped on but even that looks moody.

if there isnt rs on the log book i would stay clear .

 

try get some pics up or try and see if someone who will know the difference will go out and see it again with you

I've never known a mk1 RS2 without RS rolltop seats, but there were other seats available through the various options packs and AVO special build programs.

 

To be honest mate the best place to place your question is on the AVO club forum, there are old hands on there that have owned these cars from new and are far better placed than me to help you.

The registrar will also be able to tell you if it's AVO club registered.

 

If it's not the correct spec shell though, you can put whatever VIN plate chassis tag and number plate on it you like it isn't an RS anymore and if he's asking RS money just walk away.
