AVO (Advanced Vehicle Operations) was the name given to the Ford group responsible for design and building of the sporting Mk1 Escorts and Capris such as the Twin cam (though these were not built at Averley) RS1600, Mexico, and RS2000 mk1 Escorts. They were also responsible for the RS3100 (though again not built at Averley) and had a lot of input into the German built RS2600 Capri. They were also responsible for projects that didn't get off the ground such as a turbo charged V6 mk1 granada

The factory for assembly of the bulk of the Mk1 RS escorts was called Averley, the shells would arrive from Halewood and be converted to T49 specification as they went round the factory supported from an overhead gantry.

You don't say what model the car was? the shells were all very similar with subtle differences between each RS model, however the main T49 components are fairly easy to spot, but as has been said are also fairly easy to replicate. Does the car come with all the correct V5C documentation and chassis and body plates?

Depending on which model it is, £4k for a project car could be either quite cheap or too expensive so it's worth doing your homework

:lol: I'm afraid the mirror affliction has spread beyond AVO cars. There is a cure for it though, it's called hard driving, once you've enjoyed it once you'll never look for another mirror
