mk2_escort_chick Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 *Warning- this message may go on for a bit* Right... Had a word with my tutor y'day because i'm behind with my work. I was told I had 3 options to choose from. (The first one I have ruled out) Option 1: Leave this yr and start over next year. Option 2: Get my work in for this year and then continue next year to get a National Diploma. Option 3: Get my work in for this year and go straight onto the Higher National Diploma in Professional Writing. If I took option 3 I would have to pay for the course (it's 2 years at college and then i can do a 3rd yr at Uni of Greenwich and get a Ba Hons). Also if I take option 3 I wouldn't have anything to fall back on if I didnt like it- because I havent completed the full 2 years of my current course. I dont know what to do!!!!!!!!!! It's a risk on my part, but at the same time such a great opportunity.
Osgood Isgood Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Definitely option 3...and get your bloody head down! I would also suggest that you should embark upon a torrid passionate affair with a middle aged man, that likes old Fords!

Daggle Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Option 2 for me, seems like you have worked hard so far, might as well finish the course off, then you have that in your back pocket to carry over
mk2_escort_chick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 The current course I'm on is a 2 yr one. Usually you have to complete it before you can move up. I really dont know what to do. My m8 Grace wants me to stay on the course I'm on- she lurves me!
andrewg1323 Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Honestly Dunno Whats the ND worth when it comes to getting a job? I Dropped out of Uni doing computer science because i didn't like it (3 years in...) went back to college and i;m now about to finish an ND only to find its actually worthless when you come to get a job.
mk2_escort_chick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 National Diploma is the same as 3 a levels
Rich Sav Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 go 4 option 3 if u know thats what u wana do in life take a student loan and work part time at retro towers
mk2_escort_chick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 go 4 option 3 if u know thats what u wana do in life take a student loan and work part time at retro towers I could pay for the course and my travel wouldn't be any higher coz i'd be at the same college. I'd love to work at rf part time- hint hint
Admin Vista Posted June 21, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 21, 2007 Definitely option 3 followed by whatever you can do to achieve a worthwhile degree at University. I have a National Diploma in Marine engineering and TBH it's meaningless now (fortunately it wasn't when I started out) When I go for job interviews now it's my experience that gets me the position and the ND is glossed over as if it doesn't exist. But I reckon if I was starting out now and it was a case of two candidates, me with a ND and the other with an HND or degree but both of us having the same experience I'd lose out every time. Invest in your future by working hard now, and you'll be setting yourself up so that in the future you're a more attractive proposition to any employer than the next candidate they interview. Best of luck
S2 Dee Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 I'd say option 3. You seem to really want to be a motoring jurno, so even if you did not enjoy the course the prize is worth the pain. A decent degree does open doors, the only thing that is better is experience. Good luck whichever choice you make.
bronze4door Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 the only thing you can do is what is best for you and your future its your choice
