Guest pooface Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Picked up a Capri 2.0 laser (1987) intending on breaking it but have now realised its just way to good! its Rosso red and showing 43k on the clocks (no way is it 143k as the inside of the car is like new!) unfortunatly there is no history with it and it needs paintwork due to dents so now all i need to try and work out is what is it worth when its back to being mint and has a full mot? just so i know how well to fix it up and how much ££'s to spend! Just to add its never been welded has no rust arround the sunroof, sills wings or arches Help? lol
Guest pooface Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Oh and it has a Late 205 block and head so unleadded friendly (sierra on i think)
OllieC Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 interesting that, i am into my capris but i dont think i am able to give you a reliable valuation (sorry) I had a 87 laser with a 205 block, a 50k car when i bought it and pretty original point is people would always tell me they never made capris with the 205 block ...

shortie Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 if it is a mint one you can easily see £1000 for it, maybe even £1500, the only trouble is it having had an engine swap, not original but mint still. The sad thing about them is that the Laser wasn't exactly a "set em alight" sort of car, a good car still but never quite reached the status of the Injection or Sport models. One of my mates has a mint 1.6 Laser she has been trying to sell for near on a year and slowly the price is now down to £1000, no-one seems to want the small engined cappers these days.

sparkycapri Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 late lasers had 165 1600 blocks & 205 20L blocks i know this for sure as i have broken/stripped stacks of them. but just because it's a 205 block it doesn't mean it's unleaded, so best to stick LRP or fuel additive in it
