car check, what model?

i was told my mk1 was a 1300E..(in for sale section)..as it has the 6pot dash, but not the mex wings, they sound and look like original metal wings.

 

what else should i look for a tell me what model it is?

 

Can someone run a DVLA check on it please?

It won't tell you what model it was from a DVLA check, and you're right a 1300E should have flared arches. A 1300XL would have had a 6 clock dash but non flared arches

edit: Just checked my "bible" yes there were 4 door GT's

The black one in my sig pic was a 1300GT. Though Im led to believe that these were quite rare in their day.

The Vin plate should tell what the trim code for the car should be,

They do exist, there was one on the forecourt of Old Forge Garage at Rewe (When Ron was alive) when I got my white 2 door 1300L from him

prehaps some-one as changed the dash as this happens a lot six-pot dash is very sweat we used to do this with capris in the late 80s good luck with it though

only the later 1300XL's had a 6 clock dash, you should be able to tell by pulling the clocks out if they are genuine as the hole in the dash will probably be a bit rough if they have been DIY'd in.

All 1300XLs had 6 dials, early Sports had 2 dials & a tacho on the dash with 6 dials on later versions

No they didnt, my ex girlfriends 1300xl didnt have a 6 clock dash as standard (its a '72) and neither did the crashed one we bought for spares.

 

I had to source the dash and dash top for when the car was "overhauled" by the lads over on Turbosport.

My XL has a two clock dash. It's a '71 I had a 2 door '72 XL that was 2 clock too
