johnny_h Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Ladies and Gents, I would like to hear from anyone that has purchased something from these guys and been happy with your purchase. No hearsay please. Cheers.
flyingbanana Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 ive brought a few bits off them...and the only thing that was any good was the roof trim........apart from that everything else was not a good fit
GREENRS Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Rear rs2000 window rubber was a good fit also good quality
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 12, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 12, 2007 Yep, all good with previous purchases ... not sure there is much competition for them though so you may not have much choice
Pye Man Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Bought a rear boot seal and chrome window inserts a few years ago was good quality IMO
Daggle Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 There was a thread on this quite a while ago with lots of people popping their heads up and moaning about how bad some of the kit supplied by EKT was, also when people complained about it, the owner of EKT didn't give a stuff. I know that is all hearsay, just thought I would share my info
Gareth Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Had some outer weather seals for the door windows on my first mk1, had to trim them to fit properly. Other than that they were spot on Not complainin, as Newford Trim wanted £35 per seal, and EKT charged me £35 for the pair
bomber1 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 wilst at pownham castle show there was a firm there doing rubber trim will post details in a bit. just to say i havent used them so if anyone does its a bit of suck it and see
LEONMEX Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Got all my rubbers from ekt for my escort & the only thing any good was the windsreen rubber, altough this has started to crack The boot & door rubbers are cut off a reel & were to thick for the car so i got some from my local trim shop for half the price & they fitted a treat. Rear quarter rubbers cracked after 6months aswell. When i rung ekt to ask if id been sent the correct door & boot rubbers the bloke was really unhelpful, although a week before he was all to helpful to take £175 form me just my experience with this company & i may of just been unlucky as im sure there are some happy customers out there.
louie bagel Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 i changed all my window seals (apart from the door seals) and chrome inserts and they were fine but the carpet set didn't fit well and there wasn't a gearshift hole (but thats possibly cos peeps change stuff like that) and the chrome gutter trim looks crap imho but there prices are good and when i was trying to find a particular wing mirror for mine the guy on the phone was really helpfull and found a number of someone who specalises in that sort of thing for me and i agree with mk2jo,they haven't any competition so what can you do
Hunter T Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Rubbers for front and rear screens are good. rear lamp seals are rubbish and pointless. Vinyl roof kit is ok provided they supply the right one... In the end after a load of hassle and 300 miles I just took the material and had it machined up without them doing it... that way it fits!
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 The rear window seal for my old 107E was good. Came on a roll and had to be cut to length. I wasn't happy with any of the door seals. I couldn't shut the passenger door with it fitted, and this was on an original unrestored car
Richierich Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 had front and rear screen rubbers from them, still leaks though, but they weren't sealed when put in. Door rubbers seem to fit ok, but make it very difficult to shut the door though, have to properly slam it now! So mixed opinion really, as said there aren't many other places to get them and they're pretty well established!
105Nick Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Payed £135 for a whole load of stuff for my anglia, the only thing that f8itted was the screen rubber and rear screen rubber. HJad to take it back to Autoglass twice as it still continued to leak. The boot, door and window trim that I ordered was completely different to that from the car, the Anglia has trim that is shaped to fit on the doors and the boot aperature and the stuff he sent was thin strips that would only push fit the door aperature (so completely different) and a thin strip for the boot, which would have resulted in standing water and the boot/door pillars to rot, the window brushes he sent were 2" too long and about 1cm too wide for the slot it slots in, which it wouldn't fit in no matter what, and no instuctions, fitting guide or adhesives were supplied. When questioned he said I should have ordered adhesive through him, that the stuff needed cutting to fit despite being listed as anglia 105E replacements and being nothing alike what was fitted and after trying to explain that something that is about 1cmx50mm wont fit into a 10mm slot, he produced the theory that I should have bought some mounting clips, how that would work other than mounting it above the window I dont know. He then told me to get some super glue from B&Q - end of conversation. I returned all items along weith copy of reciept and letter demanding a refund and got nothing in return. Bastard. If its escort stuff I just recieved window rubbers within two days of ordering from GS Escorts and would highly reccomend them, Anglia stuff I'd go straight to the Owners Club. Cost £135 for a screen rubber and rear window rubber in the end.

crapichris Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 ekt were no good for me. I am on my second windscreen rubber and that is shagged after 2 years.

PAUL MANN Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 aldridge door scraper/weather seals are crap, dont buy them, have been to aldridge trimming & have seen some carpets fitted to an e type they looked good but did not have a realy good look at the fit
johnny_h Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 aldridge door scraper/weather seals are crap, dont buy them, have been to aldridge trimming & have seen some carpets fitted to an e type they looked good but did not have a realy good look at the fit I think you'll find that Aldridge and East Kent trim use the same supplier of weather seals.
PAUL MANN Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 no they dont i went to buy them from aldrige trimmings & i took the old ones with me, miles out they were & the inners were awful, ordered from ekt,had to trm the outer to fit by quarter glass but much more like originals,a case of buyer beware
Daggle Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 I have used Aldridge trim for my doors panels, 4 new panels, top, top quality
