hi guys,

changed my fuel tank today for one without a hole in (mine had a pinhole leak right near the top so hardly ever leaked neway .... )

and its pissing petrol out or was untill i drained it its coming out where the sender goes in ... there is a rubber o ring thing around the sender unit and it seems to be a case of lining the bumps up with the gaps pushing and twisting

which i have done ... but it isnt making a seal ... HELP !!!!

it just dripps out of the bottom of the sender plate type thing ...

what condition is the rubber in ?

might need to get a new one to get a proper seal again .

get the old rubber and rub a little grease over it make sure the rubber isnt perished this hopefully will help seal the rubber to the metal

then all you can do is sandwich them on each other and move the circlip round . did you make sure all the edges of the top ring were into the spaces on the tank ? is it even that type ?

im guessing all the sender have a similar sealing ring

right well ive tried once straightening the tab and that didnt work ... so ive squeezed them all down tighter and when i was pushing it in and twisting i could barely twist it its f00kin tight so hopefully i have a seal im gonna fill it back up and stick some carboard under it and leave it for tonight and look in the morning

usually you need to tap it round with a screw driver and hammer to get it to lock, if it's still leaking try bending the tabs IN a bit to hold the plate close and squeeze the sealing ring tighter

right ive nipped the flanges up even more and ive stuffed a sausage of plumbers mate round the gasket and put it in and hammered it into place with a screwdriver and hammer so ive tried EVERYONE suggestions
