this afternoon i left home to go and pic some bits up for the mk1 escort. got as far as the wisley services on the a3. the window shatters dont know what the fook happend but in a split second it went from a windscreen to a bit of frosted glass like in ur bathroom any way rang the AA as im a member they put me through to autoglass. after 20minutes on the phone its £306 for a new screen is that a good price the doris said me no i wanted a windscreen no the cown jewels oh hang on lets see what i can do. the price came down to £220 think i cant drive the car like this i agree. she then rings guildford branch no they havent got 1 but if u take the car there we will do it when we can but we will take the money now i hang up. rang the AA back up i cant get a screen i need recovery. i have the full monty cover so there would bring the car home. no we dont cover glass we cant tow u me the car isnt road worthy it needs towing. them no we wont do it . told him what i thought of his company then hung up. i ring escort tec brand spanking new LAMINATED screen £70 bargin but im at wisley with a screen i cant se out off and the new screen is in horsham so i push the old toughend glass through take the rubber out then head to horsham with no front screen old skool hot rod style m25 then down the a24 nearly caused a few accidents where people had to take a second look at the car with no screen anyway im not happy with the AA and going to tell them so a big thanks to escort tec for there help in staying there till i did homebase for selling the cord so i could fit it on the way home and sorry u have a bit of glass to sweep up pics tomorrow

i had the same sort of experiance with the rac,went to wales to collect my mk1 escort with a towing dolly,on way back with escort the wheel rim splits,bugger no spare,went to undo wheel studs 3 snap,ring rac thay say we dont cover trailers,thay can give me a number to the caravan club? or this is the piss take,a number for a recovery company to recover your trailer & car,i say ok then can you recover the escort and i will scueeze the towing dolly in my estate car they say no because you have told us its the trailer,i ranted a while and hing up,then i rang the real 4th emergency service to help my mate kev and martin they borrowed a van drove from tamworth to 30mins outside ross on wye put the dolly in the van & mart drove the scort back now thats service. well done escort tec (sorry got carried away there hi jacked your thread )

get on to trading standards/customer advice about the AA, see if they can do that, if not, demand all ur payments back or you will sue, either way more than pay for the screen

i had a screen shatter on me the other iday while at work ...all i heared was bang then the screen shattered the whole way through made me jump....i think some one had chucked a mound of mud/rock from the m1 roadworks...was doing 30mph at the time in the lorry

I had a puncture in my old truck a few years ago. No spare. The AA wouldn't recover it as it was my fault for not carrying spares ( bare in mind the front and rears are completely different size).

Cancelled my policy there and then.

Joined RAC but have never tried them out
