emu Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 the pics are the same as the genuine ad, could they have copy and pasted those ? I think they just copy/paste the entire advert. Whilst we all wonder who would be stupid enough to pay out on such an advert, someone, somewhere must be falling for these scams otherwise they would die out surely? Even just a £50 deposit here and there soon adds up when you have goodness knows how many fake adverts running at a time.
Daveyboy20 Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 just went through them and emailed my peice of mind. Made me feel better bout it temporarily - feckin pricks
Cookie Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 As Emu said, its mainly deposits people are scamming for, think if they are have just 5 dodgy auctions with what seem like baragin price, they have only got to take a £100 deposit of ten people on the auctions for an easy £5k And there still must be people falling for it or it would'nt be worth doing

S2 Dee Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Don't complain too much to e-bay, they ban you! Then they won't tell you why! I know. As long as they are making their money they don't care, makes you sick though that some desperate punter is ripped off.

daneview Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Hi All. Complete newbie to this forum, and to the Escort scene as a whole really, but hope I can help your investigation a little. I saw this advert as well, and bravely floating by the 'too good to be true' notion, emailed the man concerned about whether the car was road legal specs, taxed etc (having not seen the mag articles on it) I did get a personal reply including an address to view at: " Hello, I am selling this car for £1900 including delivery anywhere in UK. The car is at my wife's house available for viewing: Route du Coin NR. 12, La Haule, St. Brelade, Jersey, Channel Islands, JE3 8BT , my brotherinlaw will let you in, and please email me at least one day before visiting. The car is taxed and MOT'd and also road legal.I do not do COD because I had a bad experience a few months ago with a fake money transaction. I think this is a low price. The only reason is that I need cash for a family emergency. I have to tell you that I'm currently out of town with some major problems. If you want to buy this vehicle email me back with your full name and address to start the official procedure trough eBay. They will send you a notification with ALL the info regarding delivery, purchase protection and refund policy so please provide your details before more questions. You will find 90% of answers in that notification from eBay! Thanks!" I'm not sure still what the seller is up to, unless he expects people to not bother going to view the car because it is in Jersey, and just to pay and await delivery.
