thelastbandit Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 I've found it! I've got me a project, Eee, I'm so excited I could crush a grape! I just bought two 100E's, One is a Van, which is the one I'm going to keep and put on the road and the other is a car for any bits that can be used on the van, once I'm done the car (if there is anything left) will be for sale. The Van is a small rear window model and has been dry stored for the last 20 years and already has Mk2 Escort Front Struts and Brakes, but no motor, apparently it once had a V8 in it and judging by the hole in the firewall I don't doubt it! I plan to bring it back to life with a complete spray job inside, outside and underneath, a new interior and cossie or twin cam power. I have no idea what the rear axle is, but am led to believe it is standard 100E!! I'll post pics as soon as I can take some. Any advice on which lump, gearbox and rear axle to go for would be much appreciated!
Burns Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 nice one dude i, with my minimal knowledge, would have to say v8 it again get a project thread up in the resto room when you've got pics
thelastbandit Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Cripes, gis a chance, I only bought it today! Pics early next week!
DEP Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Nice one mate, you it makes sense Look forward to seeing the pics
thelastbandit Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 thanks guys, all I gotta do now is offload my jap motor to my bro in law and then I'll have the cash to get my "new" motor on the road! can't wait! If you see someone sniffing around any 300E vans at Ford Fair chances are it will be me
V8Devon Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Nice one If it's had an eight in it, I would doubt very much that it's still the original axle, easy way to tell is to check the PCD, 100E's are about 5" rather than 4 1/4.
60ftman Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 100E van......big V8......Laurel 'n' Hardy's.........Exhaust to make your ears bleed......Nice!!!
louie bagel Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 really looking forward to seeing some pics i like a 300e van this is mine
mk2harrier Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 stumbled over this on ebay right after i read your thread and though i would let you know. good luck. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1960-Ford-Escort- ... dZViewItem
thelastbandit Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 coolness im trying to get my hands on one Well I wasn't going to say anything just yet, but the place where I got this 300E is an alladins cave of old motors, most of which are rescueable and 80% are for sale. I'm going to be doing a feature on the place next week for edturners.tv, watch out for it. I'll post once it's on the site.
thelastbandit Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 Ok, you want pictures you got 'em here: 300E Thames Van Project I'll be interested to see if there is any differing opinions with regards to the front suspension/steering set up. The guy I've bought it off says that it's all MK2 Escort, is it? Also now I've had an even closer look I'm amazed at how clean(rust free) the body/chassis is. There's obviously a bit of surface rust but nothing drastic. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on my little 'ole van
