boXXer Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 i just wanna phone one place, and get it sorted really.
cossieglen Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Yeah, was going to suggest rallydesign myself, all can be ordered online too, and are generally very reasonably priced.
boXXer Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 thats what i was after. Do they do clutches etc?
cossieglen Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 No mate, sadly not, but they do just about everything else. Are you after a heavy duty clutch though? http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/index.php
boXXer Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 well im only gunna be running 150hp, so what will i need?
over_head_cam Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Posse runs nearly 190 on a standard clutch and so far everything has been OK
boXXer Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 ah right ok. Might just do that then. Its cos im used to old ford clutches slipping on my 3dr, lol. Who would be the best place to get a genuine ford clutch from? or even just the friction plate as i 'think' mine has been uprated as its really heavy. Also, is the clutch the same for both 4 and 5 speed conversions? Thanks!
BIG G Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 just get a standard luk clutch from an auto factors good for 160 thats for shore about 40 quid and a mk2 cortina clutch cable as longer to get it away from your new exhaust
cossieglen Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Yeah, I used to use a standard clutch on my old 150 spec engine, and in fact I think the current one in my car which is about 140-150 is just standard item. You might need to replace the friction plate a little more often, but wont need heavy duty until you're heading for 200hp
boXXer Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks guys. Is the mk1 escort clutch cable a bit too short then? are the ends the same as the cortina one?
cossieglen Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Ends should be the same yeah, but as peeps said before they get close to the manifold and melt the inner core and stop working! I always used the standard one however, and just heat wrapped it.
PIG Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 mike when you put it on wrap it in some heat proof shit m8 and lockwire the cable away as far as possible
boXXer Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 yeah i think i'll have to do that.
