escort21 Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 I've said it a million times now but.......use mk2 rs -2" escort front springs from rally design...12 quid each ...can we make that a sticky?
Josh_gsy Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 thanks for your help I've said it a million times now but.......use mk2 rs -2" escort front springs from rally design...12 quid each ...can we make that a sticky? sorry i take it this is common thing to ask, do i get a link aswell or is that classed as too lazy!
bmxdave Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Nothing wrong with being lazy mate. I think these are the ones, not 100%, best make sure first. http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=465_1152_1155_1156&products_id=9428
Josh_gsy Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 Glad to see im not the only one that sees lazyness as a possitive asset! cheers for the link! Has any of you lowered your car 2" if so do you have any scrapage issues?
escort21 Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 On a mk2 there will be no scraping issues unless you have giant wide wheels
orionmojo Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 the man speaks the truth, just remember that 11 1/2" springs are STANDARD RIDE HEIGHT
Josh_gsy Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 also would this help stiffen the body roll as mine is has more roll than a boat!
escort21 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Use decent dampers and what you also want is stiffer springs on the front, i use 170lb one and it handles nicely
geoffersmasher Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 will these springs work on a mk1 tina if so im getting some
bmxdave Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I presume so. Cant see why not, theyre pretty much exactly the same underneath. Id say yeah. My Dads was lowered two inches, and it had 5.5" lotus steels, and it was pretty fine. Only issue was the exhaust getting up onto our driveway. But then its a big bump to get up. You should be ok.
Josh_gsy Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 That reminds me o my mates mini he had used to scrape so one day his parents came home to find us with a Jack hammer and chisel attachment making it a smaller lump!
Lotus-Eater Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Why not go for an adjustable spring seat kit from Rally Design using 2.25" springs? Then you can set the ride height exactly where you want it. £18.50 a side plus the springs 170lb bout £15 each. You just need to carefully remove the spring platforms from your struts (grinder/cold chisel) and get a friendly local welder to weld the threaded tubes to your struts (cheap job).
Josh_gsy Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 would this be what i need? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-ESCORT-MK1-M ... dZViewItem
escort21 Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Yes but they don't say what poundage...if you go to rally design you can get the poundage you want plusthey will be the same price as the ebay ones now and they could go up
Josh_gsy Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 but the escort ones will fit? as i spoke to rally design and they said they dont do them for my car what poundage will i want?
bomber1 Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 That reminds me o my mates mini he had used to scrape so one day his parents came home to find us with a Jack hammer and chisel attachment making it a smaller lump! fpmsl
escort21 Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Yes as i said rs escort springs fit ok, the poundage depends on how hard you want the ride to be, i recommend 170lb ones
Josh_gsy Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 Cheers i think i will take your advice! now to save my hard earn cash!
