antz Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 1. are anti dive kits worth their money? do they really hep much? 2. does a strut brace actualy help at all or is it just an old wives tale? thats it
tim Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 i got an anti dive on the front of my mex and its lowered the front abit and the front end handles really well, car is totaly standard part from the anti dive as for strut braces the only 1s worth havin are the stright bars the connect stright to the inner wings no oval 1s
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 it would be a straight one id get as im getting a new engine this winter which will allow me the space but i wondered if its worth me spending my money on one or weather its just more weight that does nowt! i know wed on ones are the best but im not gonna weld my inner wings so itd be a bolt on one id get. so anti dive kits are worth the cash?
flyingbanana Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 so anti dive kits are worth the cash?

antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 ok so i think ill get an anti dive kit i just wanted to know if strut braces are worth it cos i know some say yes and others say no. i see how they work but i dont see how you can gain a lot from it
Copey Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 i have driven a capri without one and with standard suspension(mine) and driven one on standards sus setup with a brace, it just makes the car feel more taunt and controlable, dont know the effects on a escy, but on a capri they seem to do a fair amount, but havin said that, they do have a lot of bonnet!! so may be more noticable
J_mk1 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 well wether you can feel it or not from a structural point of view it would certainly strengthen your cars chassis and tighten the steering... in theory
Copey Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 i will be getting one i think!! well worth the £70
marky4 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 got an anti dive kit on mine front end handles really well but then i've never driven it with out
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 anti dive kit is on my shopping list
tim Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 measure between your top mount, then jack the car up and measure the same gap,it will get bigger, thats what a strut bar will stop
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 ahhh so if i measure the same point between my stut tops then again when its jacked up itll get bigger *why did i repeat what you said * where can i get a decent one? i found one on ebay but it looks a bit gash
tim Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 ralloy make a nice 1 http://www.ralloy.com/productlisting.as ... &offset=15
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 thanks tim. how do i know if i have large or small hole strut tops? its a 1980 car so which do i need?
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 and that clears everything up thanks everyone!
Admin Vista Posted August 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted August 22, 2007 Anti Dive kit Strut brace? I've never been convinced that they're anything more than a fashion acccessory for 95% of road cars and I wouldn't waste your money on it as I doubt you'd notice the difference.
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 damn vista now youve made me unsure about it again
Admin Vista Posted August 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted August 22, 2007 damn vista now youve made me unsure about it again Honestly Antz if you're on a limited budget then there are more important things to spend a few quid on that you really would notice the difference from. Poly bushes for 1 and perhaps electronic ignition or a brake upgrade. My car is higher spec than yours and I don't have one on mine for instance, plus I've no intention of fitting one.
antz Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 leccy ignition is already done, polybushed already, had full new brakes last winter (standard spec but they actually work now!) its coming off the road this winter and i want more goodies or i could spend the £50 on the engine and go for a bit more
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted August 22, 2007 it would be a straight one id get as im getting a new engine this winter which will allow me the space but i wondered if its worth me spending my money on one or weather its just more weight that does nowt! i know wed on ones are the best but im not gonna weld my inner wings so itd be a bolt on one id get. so anti dive kits are worth the cash? Antz .... speak to /PM 4parajon about a strut brace because he is about to start making them
Noodles Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 I got a straight strut brace for 20 squid if you shop around at jumbles you can pick em up for peanuts
Tom Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 i nhave to disagree with you there vista, i drove my car on the road without my strut brace and i really noticed the difference. the front end seems to wander a bit and it felt wobbly through the corners. All the suspension forces are going through those strut tops and if, when you jack the car up, the gap increases with just the weight of the legs on it it's gonna be a hell of a lot more with all the suspension forces on the opposite
