I know that you can legally get away with having just one mirror. I was just wondering which one you do need to have? I'm sure its the passenger side isnt it?

Depending on the age of the car you don't need any wing mirrors, my Alfa never came with them and it was 1st registered in 74. I fitted some as I just couldn't hack driving it without them.

I think that it was subsequently a drivers mirror that became compulsory on later cars

Vista is right, only one drivers side needed and that law came in in the 80's so you don't need any on a Mk1 Escort.

You must have one rear view mirror, but your interior one will do.
