sparkycapri Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 just swaped my mk1 2 door tina for a prefacelift mk2 28i granny! the cortina needs loads of work and i mean loads, it was taken off the road after the drivers side wing got stuffed in back in 1987 and it has been residing in my workshop since '92 when i got it and i havent found the time to do it yet so it's proably a sensible move. the grannys had new front wings & valence, all welding done and well prepped for a respray, shaved door handles and remote popper kit. just needs paint and putting back together! so i should be able to get round to that by xmas. so this- for this-
antz Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 well you yourself said that you havent touched the tina in 15 years and im gussing if its been this long then youll never do it. and the granny is nearly done so id say you did a good thing get it sprayed up and get out there!
sparkycapri Posted September 9, 2007 Author Report Posted September 9, 2007 that was my kinda view on it i have still got plenty of other projects i havent done anything to for years anyway.
c1arke Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 i dont like them but i like that one looks like a gangster car from a film with the blacked out window
stu Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 low rider make it bounce. grannys have the osf flag of bouncerabilty in my eyes
Admin Vista Posted September 10, 2007 Admin Report Posted September 10, 2007 I'm going to buck the trend here and say that I reckon you should have persevered with the Cortina. Both are Old skool cool though being a mk1 2 door the Cortina would probably have got you more recognition and acknowledgement. Looking at it purely from a monetary perspective, the Cortina may have taken longer and cost more to do, but being a 2 door it would probably been worth a tidy sum on completion. Whereas sadly it'll be many years before the same can be said of the granny. That said, if you're certain you'd never have got round to finishing the cortina then you probably did the right thing.
surfingturnip Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 if you werent ever going to get round to the cortina then it's probably best that you sold it on to someone who might be able to salvage it also for some reason I love that grey mottled look of the primer on the granada
Richierich Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Seems fair to me, if you weren't gonna get the cortina done then at least (hopefully) someone else will
sparkycapri Posted September 16, 2007 Author Report Posted September 16, 2007 i dont really want the granny anyway,as i have got my mk2 estate (in the background) so i sold it to my mate a while back before he did all the bodywork on it, i only brought it originaly to save it from being raced! the amount of work that has been done to it probably far outweighs the value of the tina, as the tina needs many hours with the old MIG welder. i will probably just paint it and sell it on. might give it another 12months of life before someone sticks it in the back of a jag round wimbledon raceway! the price racers are paying for mk2 grannys down here it's pretty inevitable.
