Rick Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 i got mine off ebay mate, you have to send a photo of your logbook to the bloke though before hel sell you one. he records all the people he sells to
kirk10 Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 thanks so the bloke can get all the info he needs to stamp on it off the log book yes
Rick Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 no you have to get it stamped yourself. he sends you a blank
kirk10 Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 but were do i find out what needs to be stamped on it
kirk10 Posted September 10, 2007 Author Report Posted September 10, 2007 ive found the blanks http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Escort-Mk1-M ... dZViewItem
Rick Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 the impotyant bits are on your logbook. front of the haynes manual tells you the details of color, trim, etc
mossy Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 proberly a very stupid question...it has to be the factory details on it? or can i put the current details....as non of the orignal exists!
Rick Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 id make it back to fatory details it looks less dodgy then. you dont wanna go stamping a modern paintcode on the tags
mossy Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 all the details are on the logbook? as 1 of my plates is missing and the other is just rust!
meXEco Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Only chassis and engine numbers i think. The rest you have to work out from book codes-eg. vinyl or cloth seats, colour etc. then add these.
tim Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 only important thing is the chassis number, only stuff on there means naff all to most people apart from people who can decode the plates
kirk10 Posted September 11, 2007 Author Report Posted September 11, 2007 ok so the chassis number should be on the log book yes as ive sanded every inch of my car and havnt come across it yet
tim Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 the chassis number will be on the log book/v5,stamped in the chasis plate and when new would be on the os inner wing round the strut top
Rick Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 youd be lucky to have the original chasis number in the strut top. there aint many that havent rotted away.
tim Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 youd be lucky to have the original chasis number in the strut top. there aint many that havent rotted away. mines got it
Rick Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 well your lucky your even luckier if you have them on the older cars cuz i think they were just scratched on at the factory
