Guest Airbag Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 I am in the middle of spraying my winter ride in Satin Black. i'm doing it just to tart it up abit for the winter. I have sprayed the front end and it looks quite good. The problem i have is from some angles when the light hits it I can see faint streaks on the bonnet and wings. Is this overspray? and if so how can I get rid of it?
GJUK Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 paint stripper should do the trick. Speak to Kirk on here, hes the paint god at the moment i think. Jon
turner Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 To get rid of over spray lines and keep the satin sheen let the paint dry out and harden up.then wet flat it with a 1500 or 2000 grade wet n dry ,this should give you a uniform and nice satin finish. This is how i finished a bike i sprayed satin black last year that came out sweet.hope this helps
flyingbanana Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 yep flatten back down..and when you respray make sure you cover 75% of your last spray and you wont get lines
Guest Airbag Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 thanks for your help chaps. Will gig it a try
ratfink Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I would respray the whole car in one go...because what thinners you use and how much thinners you put in when you mix the paint will make a difference to how satin the paint is when you spray it. Therefore when you paint the back it won't match the front anyway! It sounds like you are not over lapping the paint enough when you spray it, or are you using rattle cans?

Rick Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 adjust your gun to a wider fan. its less liely to leave streaks that way/ its a hard thing to get right unless you have the right light to work in, no trouble to go over it again though
sutton4ord Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Best way is crisscross. paint 1 way next coat paint otherway.
Guest Airbag Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 Iʲll have another go this weekend and see how i get on with adjustinɡ the gun and crisscrossing. Thanks chaps
