The gap down the side of the boot your asking about can be sorted by adjusting the catch bar just inside the back of the boot ,just loosen the bolts and tap it down a tiny bit at a time keep doing it till your happy with the gap.if it takes alot you may need to adjust the boot lid on its hinges to make it sit right.
