im thinkin of changein my engine but im not sure what to go for or if i should stick with mine .I want a bit more speed i guess

im useing a 1600 xflow ,+90 bore, unknown cam, burton big valve head, twin 40s it makes 110 bhp at the wheels is this the best it could be ?

as i do have a spare block that could be built to a better spec therefore saveing me moneys all round as i wont need to mess about fittn up diffrent type of lump

or

should i fit a pinto ,vaux ,or zetec ?

Go pinto i'd say, cheapish from the scrappy, eveyone on here knows how to tune them, some really push big power.

the good thing with the pinto is it has loads of torque over most of the other engines metioned, certianly the xflow.

a 140bhp xflow wont be as quick as a pinto, neither will a zetec or xe.

its all done to the torque

nissan sr20det . . . very minor mods will see over 250 bhp  . . i know,i know i'll get my coat

jokes aside, i like my very mild tune pinto. . pulls like a train.

yep thats why pintos a still a very quick motor,i dont like jap power or xe's they have to rev to much.

my old honda was like that, nothing under 5000,most novas would piss past me off the lights, had no torque.

how much work will it be to get A 140 brake x flow

Flywheel or wheels?

If you don't know what cam you have I would start by changing it to a 244 with 1300 pistons.

Check the clearance with a dummy build rather than just having the cut outs put in the pistons-you want at least 2mm of clearance when you turn the engine by hand-use plastercine. (spelling?).

If the head is stage three you should be around 150+ flywheel. If not blame the head! This sort of spec was achieved by a mate but he had 45's. I had 156bhp from my 1760 pre-cross on 40's with 36mm chokes on a 254 Kent cam with a burton modified head and a really bad exhaust manifold!

I love the crossflow for weight reasons however cubes give you torque!

Good luck
