stu Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 why ? & if u was gonna biuld a firebreathing xflow woud u use 1
escort21 Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Early xflows had them and the pistons had no valve cutouts....why?....i dunno! but some engine tuners put small chambers in the head so they can run flat top pistons which have less mass above the piston gudgeon pin which makes the rev up quicker Most use the flat head and 1300 pisons to raise the compression ratio as it works and its cheaper ....just ask Fiestasteve
antz Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Most use the flat head and 1300 pisons to raise the compression ratio as it works and its cheaper ....just ask Fiestasteve thats what im gonna go for
dragaddict Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 but watch for high revs cause they tender to break try to fit fiat pistons thats what we do here and they are strong as std pistons and they don't cost much i think
Rick Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 i heard using 1300 pistons will lower the life of your engine. in the kent crossflow haynes book somewhere
Fiesta Steve Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 i heard using 1300 pistons will lower the life of your engine. in the kent crossflow haynes book somewhere If you are the type on person that fits 1300 pistons to make your car faster your probably going to give it a good thrashing. That may shorten the life of your engine
c1arke Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 speaking of shorting life i thought the other day cause i no some people that run 8 WRC focuses the engine out of one of them would be eminence in a mk1 then it hit me a WRC engine is meant to last 1 rally then be rebuilt shame would have bin cool with a good 250 under the bonnet
Toby Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 but watch for high revs cause they tender to break try to fit fiat pistons thats what we do here and they are strong as std pistons and they don't cost much i think Any more info mate? Car model, capacity, gudgen pin size etc? Thanks
