Daggle Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Can you post up the highlights? I need to register to read it. Seconded,
tim Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 just some1 moaning about there being to many non ford engined cars in retro ford
awesome Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I don't mind reading about people putting non Ford engines in their cars in the end it's up to them what they do. It's not what i would do But saying that bubble arched Anglias don't rock every ones boat either............. Wether Ben should be putting articles re Other make engines , As long as it dosen't become the norm i'de be a happy chappie Cant wait to see the Angle Bussa .........Oh look another non Ford engine You might be right mate ben is changing the mag......
DEP Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 Sorry guys I have bought Retro Ford magazine since it was launched last year....but the December 2007 issue will be the last.I am sick of looking at Ford cars with Vauxhall crap under bonnet!!! Does anyome else buy the mag?
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Who cares whether a car doesn't have a ford engine? As long as the car is being used as intended, that's all that matters. I had people moan at me when I told them I was putting a Zetec in an Anglia Van. In this world, whatever you do, it is wrong. IMHO.
Admin Vista Posted November 5, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 5, 2007 I think that's a bit harsh. The XE isn't for me in my RS but it's a damn fine engine that produces great power and truth be told it'd be a tough call for me between a NA YB and an XE were I to own any non RS car. As far as I'm concerned if you don't like the articles then don't buy the mag, there's plenty of time to flick through before you buy it. Besides, there are plenty of people who aren't so anal about it all that will continue to buy even if one or two don't. There are those that aim a similar whinge at Classic Ford for featuring XR3i's and Cosworth Sierras etc and I'd say the same to them. i.e. one mans meat................
mk1mexico Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Being used as intended with whatever engine OR laid up like the RS1600 in vistas thread(at least its original!)??
RFChris Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I can't log on to their silly site because i have a hotmail account. Anyway, sod em. If they look back through the mags they'll see that most of them have Ford engines. Modifying them is all part and parcel of the diversity of the scene. Not to mention that at the top of every cover it says, clear for all to see.... "Classic Fords Modified" ....so to keep them happy should modifying not encompass the engine? Sigh. Chris. NB, as soon as i can get on there i will post this, or something to this effect.
RETRO_AL Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Theres always somebody moaning about something it would be pretty boring if our cars had all the same engines ect ect When i pick mags up i have a quick flik thro and if theres nothing of interest to me i dont buy it ffs
marky4 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 personally i don't care who has what engine in what car it's thier car and they can put whatever engine they like in it if we all had the same engines it would be very boring
4parajon Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 IMO you can only look at so many "pinto on 45's" or "cossie turbo's" in our old cars, this sort of thing keeps the scene fresh and people who think and then develop there ideas into fine cars should be applauded.
Mk 1 Mark Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Moan Moan Moan...Im a ford man through and through...And i love em with passion... But if you dont like whats in the mag dont buy it....Simple Could do a feature on trailers so all the trailer spit and polish boys on the Rs forums, Then they can see whats best to trailer there cars to the shows... Cars are made for driving and enjoying, I dont moan when someone has a mint show car who spends hours polishing and showing the car. If thats what they like good luck to them. For me cars are made for driving,And theres nothing better then backing an old ford into bend on the edge... Whatever engine is in it,Like i said Each to there own, But i belive you should and abuse em, If they break..Fix em....end of the day its a car Get out there and use them for what there made and built for

RFChris Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Duly defended. Muppets.... Well you are welcome to Retro Ford then... But one thing is certain, me being a true Ford fan I certainly wont be buying it again because the mag is a fake. Fake? Would you like to get yourself down from that high horse you are on? Just because the magazine does not cater 100% to your needs you feel justified in saying it's fake. Why is it fake? Are the cars we feature not built by people filled with passion for old Fords? Are they an unfair representaion of what is builg built? Or are they simply not to your liking? What else? I suppose that because Ben has an XE powered van he's fake is he? Ignoring the fact that he built it himself. Whats cracks me up most of all that you are 'sick of seing cars with vauxhall engines' and as such the current issue will be your last. Urm, let me go and count the number of Vauxhall powered cars....it could take me a while. One, two. Christ, that took a while. I had to look for them in amongst the Ford powered Anglia, Cortina, Transit, Escort and Capris. Hang on, i'll go and have a look at the november issue.... Yep...none. I'll check the October issue, y'know, just to be sure.... None. So, in closing. Shut up. Take your argument elsewhere. Do your research. Accept that while you may like having factory everything, others don't. Some like standard, some like modified and we try to cater for every aspect of that in the magazine. Thats the beauty of old Ford's... ...you see, as a true Ford fan i can see that. Chris

scotty86d Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 two years ago i would have disaggreed with putting foreign matter in a ford. I still prefer rally escorts with ford engines but don't mind xe's in other fords, wierd i know. As said it keeps things interesting. The xe is a cracking engine, those who don't like it should drive their shape ford with one in, it's a hoot. christ people said and still disagree with zetecs and duratecs in mk1s, awesome idea if you ask me, its something different from a pinto or crossflow(love seeing a good one on carbs don't get me wrong) Whoever it was who said im not buying another issue, its just xe's, you total tit, and if you don't feel like one you should!!!!!!! Ben etc keep up the good work, man who won't buy another issue, your loss!!
brettp Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 glad a bike engine is going in it some thing different im sick of reading about the same sh.t and lets face it any one who went to ford fair this year and saw the rs focus stand would be swayed they all looked the same with maybe different wheels any one with enough money can produce a burton catologue car that we have all seen before so its a breath of fresh air to see something different being done
