MK2Ed Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 is there a good way for cleaning up old manky oily/dirty nuts/bolts apart from buying new ones? Â Cheers E.
Rick Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 i clamp the head in the vice and then wire brush all the threads then flip em over same on the head, then grease the thread part up. Â you can etch prime and paint em when fitted too if its on show
johnny_h Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 If they are only oily and not rusty and If you have an understanding wife/girlfriend....chuck them in a very thick sock in the washin machine on a boil wash with lots of Bold 2 in 1! Â Here's my gearbox bits after a spin...
PaulAshman Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 I've heard of the washing machine trick but never seen the finished product, it sure does work well!!! I have soaked overnight in petrol and that worked really well, then following day rinsed off and brushed with a wire brush.
tim Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 vinger ment to work well or cidic bang is a good degreaser
Admin Vista Posted November 6, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 6, 2007 Soak all the crud off and then run a die nut down them to clean up the threads.
