It's tricky on your own so i do it like this = Prop the front of the engine up with a piece of wood so that the flywheel is pointing down towards the floor . Use an axle stand under the tailshaft of the gearbox and a trolley jack under the bellhousing and just jack up the bellhousing whilst balancing the gearbox on it with your spare hand . Once it's high enough to slide over the flywheel wedge your knee under the gearbox mounting and your arms under the bellhousing , lift and push like fook !!!!!!!!:lol::lol: . Alternatively get some mates to help

it's a right bugger on your own, ideally you want another person to take the weight of the gearbox so you can line everything up properly

tilt engine back prop up front

slide gearbox under car

get a piece of rope feed it down from inside engine bay and under the bellhousing

get a mate to lift the front of the gearbox using the rope fro the top

you lift the back and guide it into place

have axle stand at the ready to hold tail up while you pout the top bolts in the bellhousing

I remember doing this job a few times. It's a lot of effort but I used to manage it on my own. But I did always end up pouring gear oil over my nuts every time!!!

You're gonna ache in the morning too.

I jack the car as high as possable, lower on to axle stands, drag gearbox under car, then get a trolley jack under gearbox then jack it up and slot it in,ive dont it loads of times and i can tell you the t5 box weighs a ton  and theres no way you could lift it into place with out a jack

yeh quite hard work on your own matey but can be done use a bit of rope like the man said but tie it off so gear box up in the air at the front, put trolly jack under ear of box, again use some rope drop through gear stick hole round the back of box and back through hole, tie it so it's go a loop in it slide bid spanner through and this real hole the box up in the air mate, take your jack to the bell huseing jack it up to you reach the reuire height and the start pushing, this is the best way i have found to do it on your own,you might need to lower the rear of box,but it's handy if you have two trolly jacks and rember to use the string for heath and saftey the reasion i say this,is i was doing a xr4i box and it fell and hit me in the face about 2.5 feet and it hurt :thumbsup:
