Do you know much about the history of your Old Skool Ford? All I had when I got mine was the details on the logbook from the guy I bought it from and I knew nothing else about it.

I was put onto the DVLA History search by Marky4 (thanks Mark  ) where you fill out a form and send it off with £5.00 and the DVLA will send you all the history they have on your car.

I sent the form off in Mid Sept, my cheque was cashed beginning of October and last week I got back copies of all 14 of the previous owners logbooks for the car so I know all the owners :D:D:D

It seems that the car originally comes from Stoke On Trent (I'm in Hampshire) - I've got a photocopy of the dealer's original logbook application. The car started off life with another number plate and in 1982 was changed by the owner at that time who put a private plate on it. Then a year later he swapped it in p/x for an XR3 :? and swapped the private plate onto it and my car was sold with a new number plate which is the one it has now. It has been Black all it's life. And there was even an owner called Colin Bailey :lol: (BaileyMex's real name).

Feels kinda nice to know a litte about the car

I met a guy at RTTS who used to own my cortina, he told me he fitted the denim doorcards, purple seats & orange carpets :dope: as well as the 1600 x-flow from a mk2 escort!

I've got the old logbook for my estate which lists the first 2 owners, then the people I bought it from had it & ownership went from the wife to the daughter to get her some no claims discount & then back to the wife when the daughter got her own car (An MG!), (was in their ownership from 1972 to last year) now it's in my name

Car started life in Penryn & moved to Illogan in 1971 & then onto the previous owners in 72

My 100e sat in a barn unregistered until 1991......The Engine and chassis numbers don't match though and it's chassis number relates to 1960....and iv'e got the origional engine wich has never been turned over (but has a broken spark plug and carb becouse it rolled over) sat in a crate that i found with the car when i collected it from Angus Whitehead's (Heart of Hampshire Cider Co) barn in 2002....His dad had owned it from new and had baught a camera when they were first avaliale to the public and took photo's of the work he did on the car using the origional engine to make a Haynes style guide to working on sidevalve engines.....

So there ya' go !

My Anglia is apparently a welder, and was written off as a Volvo !!!!

Someone in it's history has only recorded a partial vin on the log book (last 6 numers) so when anything is financed or written off and the full Vin is'nt used it causes problems like mine. (the welder and the Volvo had the same 6 numbers recorded as mine).

ave ya got it so far LOL

DVLA wont take the scrap marker off even though it's clearly a mistake until it's inspected or mot'd. I've managed to get the finance for the welder off it though. So thats done. So what to do :)

I know everything about the Capri as I contacted the original owner. Originally a Preston Capri, it was bought from the local Ford dealers (Bradshaws) in April 1983 when the owners had just got married. They kept it till 2006, when it was sold back to the replacment Ford dealer. He bought it for his wife, but she couldn't get on with it, so only had it for 5 months. Then cue Jimbob, who went all the way to Lytham St. Annes (Just outside Preston & also home to Roy 'Catchphrase' Walker) to buy it. I will have had it 2 years on the 6th of Jan 2008 :D

Now, the Anglia. I would like to look up the history for this. It was bought by a friend of the family back in 1985 from Bournemouth. He hardly drove it, and kept it in his garage untill I rescued it in August last year. I know it has lost it's original numberplate, because I have a few old tax discs. Going by paperwork, the original number was transferred just before it was sold in '85. I also found out the 997cc engine that was in it, wasn't the original, so I don't know what has gone on there. I know the person I bought it from hasn't done a thing to it since he bought it in '85. I am only the fouth owner, so I am hoping that I maybe able to get in contact with the 2 other owners.

Thanks for the link Jo... I will get on it! :D:thumbsup:
