Fiesta Steve Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 After 3 years of lead free abuse my valve seats are showing no signs of wear. I'd say if its a weekend kind of car and your not going to clock 100k in the next few years then save your money, I am

Fiesta Steve Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Whats the worse that can happen, in many years time they start to recess, then you'll need to get hardened seats. Don't do today what you can leave 'til tomorow

Mr Sam Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 i was talkin to some old numpty at a show he claimed if you stick to 40mph you will be fine on unleaded
Toby Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 I stick a bit of Millers VSP in with Optimax. Got a bit of octane booster and deffo no sign of VSR. Never been brave enough not to put it in + it likes the octane! Or do the Mr Sam. But mind the 30 mph cameras!
jayson2.3pinto Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 you dont need hardened seats may just need recutting and check valves for wear
Rick Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 whats it cost to recut the seats again in a few years>? a new gasket and a quids worth of cutting paste.... cheaper id say

bortaf Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 you dont need hardened seats may just need recutting and check valves for wear You can't recut if theres no metal left to cut into TBH if they all resessed at once it'd save the engeneering company cutting out the old seats to fit the hardened ones in the harder you drive the quicker it will happen either way it will happen enventually
