Xr6 have different shells to the standard Cortina, They were V6 Essex powered, And being South African the body kit has lots of different pieces too, There was one broken recently in scotland I think, OZ auso had 6 cylinder Mk4/5s, 4 ltr straight 6s possibly from the mustang/falcon ange.

XR6 was South African right :?:

Same as the S.ierra XR8

yes mate  SA only, made in Germany :)

that's why the germans based their rally cortina on the XR6 shell  it had different (5 link) rear susspension and trim differences as most of the finer detail stuff was sourced in SA.

The Aussie shells where even more different their Mk5s had a totaly different front susspension, bulkhead ect to take the straight 6 4.1's those lucky buggers got as factory

The rear suspension differs too - its 5 link instead of 4 link (UK spec)

The car broken in Scotland was an XR6 TF. There were 2 known TF's in the UK out of 500 made. These cars are distinctive - they are white with special blue TF stripes. TF stands for Team Ford.

Mid-June 1982 brought about the birth of the Cortina XR6 Interceptor. This was a real true blue Ford and has become a very sought after collectors item. This car included modified exhaust headers, camshaft, cylinder heads, high compression pistons, a 3.08 differential and, most important, three 42 Webers. This very special car also boasted 13" alloy rims. This combination became a legend on both race track and on the street. Only 250 of these were ever made.

A very limited edition was the Cortina X-Ocet. The car was similar to the Interceptor except for its being fuelled by a 450 cfm Holley
