Hello!

As mentioned, I just bought a mk2 escort.

I'm an Aussie living in Cambridgeshire with the wife + kid, finally have a bit of space (though no time) for a project car, so I bought a mk2 1600 4-door (for the childseat).

I still have a mk2 2-door in Australia which my dad has in his garage (his garage is bigger than my house here...) so I do know what I'm in for - FUN!!!!

Anyway, this forum looks great, I have also have an MG ZT (yeah, it's a tarted up rover I know - but the handling is awesome) so I know the value of a good forum full of knowledge, I look forward to reading + contributing what little I can!

Cheers,

Simon

Thanks for the welcome!

welcome to the site bud :D where exactly in cambs are you??

I'm in Ely. Actually it's a 'village' outside ely called Queen Adelaide. As I'm from Queensland, and my parents are from Adelaide I thought it couldn't be too bad. Not very sunny though. :P

I work in north Cambridge (science parks) so I'm down the A10 every day - I have a motorbike, which is faster in the traffic, but there's no room for a child seat. When they build that new town in the middle - Mereham - I'll have to drive or bicycle my son to childcare, then back home, then on the motorbike to work I think. Traffic is already beyond breaking point.

Cheers Everyone.

Louie, I'm afraid I'm already marrying someone I'm not related to. Doesn't that exclude me from that group? :P

Seriously, the only true 'fenlands' person I've dealt with is the land-owner (he calls himself a farmer) who wants to charge me money to park outside my garage - which he happens to own instead of me because of a Land Registry error. I'm not impressed so far, but I'm sure you can still change my mind! I'd hate for someone to meet me and thing that all Australians are attractive tanned surfers... j/k
