How about GAZ shocks (not me  ) as they are one half of Leda and may do it . You can kink one end yourself though if you have the right gear (blow torch , vice and big foooooooking hammer)

Thanks for the reply

I did try Gaz and the guy there said they don`t do them but said he used to kink the ends under a hydraulic press without heat.

He suggested making a a radiused former so as to spread the load as this is how he used to do them apparently.

Anyway, it didn`t work for me as it cracked the spring. Luckily I have a spare set to practice on, but it is still a waste.

So heat is definatley required but I don`t have access to Oxy acetylene gear.

Leda used to farm them out to a local engineering company called Horner and Wells, but they too have since closed down. Maybe I`ll try to find where their old employees went.l

I don`t know how expertly these things are done. Some say just heat and bend, but if I was paying good money for it tobe done I would expect some sort of heat treatment to temper the steel.

I`ve tracked down an ex employee of Horner & wells at another engineering firm and he says they will have a look at them for me.

So hopefully I`m sorted now.

Thanks for the response

don't forget to post up the details and phone no of the bloke that did them for you as someone else may want them done . They normally kink themselves after a few months of abuse anyway !!!!!!!

Well I got them done.

The same way they used to do them for leda.

The use a special former under a Hyraulic press and work there way along the length of the spring.

Mine have been lowered 45-50 mm (nearly 2")

He says he would be happy to do more at £50 a pair so long as they came through me (as it is a weekend extra job for him) and probably wouldn`t want direct enquiries to the company.

But he would only do it on the understanding that if the spring fails during the process it would be at the persons own risk.

He did 3 for me and they all survived.

Thats right, Chelmsford Essex.

Just drop off at mine, he only works a couple of miles from me, and I see him most Thursdays anyway as his kids go to the same swimming classes as mine. Small World sometimes.
