Hi chaps and chapesses. My name' s Andy, but known as Sid. Amongst other things.

I live deep in the heart of The Peoples Republic of Sandwell ( go to West Brom and turn left) and am married with a pair of teenagers for emptying my wallet. I have been into Fords since I first passed my test, My first car was a MK2 Escort, which I modified a little. Then came more Escorts, mk 2 and 3, Transits, and forgive me please, a V"£$hall. Then a pair of twin cammed Sierras, and another Transit.

Current vehicles are a 100e, with 2.1 pinto waiting to go in. I also have a 1965 Thames Panel van, with a 350 Buick and TH400 waiting to go in, and my pride and joy is a 1959 Thames dropside truck, being restored, totally original.

By trade I am a carpenter, so I made all the rear of my truck out of hardwood. I know most people on here wont have heard of a Thames, these were made between 57 and 65, before the Transit replaced them. So I reckon it's a Ford!

Hopefully the picture will work. Well it will in a few days after my virginity has expired on here. I will post pictures later.

Hello matey and welcome, and I not only know what a thames is I worked on them in the seventies along with the thames trader 5 tonner at Norman Reeves trucks in Hayes Middx. I also have had a couple of side valve E83W ford trucks from the late forties

Well obviously I underestimated you lot! Sorry!!!!

Most people have never heard of them, specially when trying to get parts. So I have learned not to ask for a specific model, just a part.

eg I wanted new brake flexi pipes, imperial ends. Rare as rocking horse poo, unless you think a bit obscure and realise that Triumph TR5 are the right length and fittings, and work ok.

I am planning to get the dropside finished first, then the 100e, then the van.

But as car restos go it can all change!

I'm actually looking forward to getting the truck mot'd, and then I will be one happy chap. To take a 48 year old truck, bought unseen while I was pissed off ebay, and get it back roadworthy will be a special moment, and make me very very proud. Just FYI sat in a barn for 35 years, 52k on the clock, and started second turn with fresh juice and battery. You wouldn't get that with an ECU!

The van scares me, even without being finished. 5.7 small block, auto box and straight coupled onto an IRS, I reckon it will lift the wheels. I am aiming to keep it stock looking, apart from chrome wheels, and twin exhausts.

As soon as I have the right number of postings, I will upload pictures of them all.

Thanks for the kind welcomes and encouragement.

Andy
