just picked up mk4 granny saloon on n plate for scrap when i pop bonnet to have a look like you do i was confronted with 20lrt dohc 16valve looks same as zetec , injection on same side as a x flow, was wondering if any body out there thinks if this is a good engine to put in sports wagon ???? or is it scrap ????

Yep it's a good un , tickover in kent have fitted it into a few Capri's, it's a chain drive cam motor is'nt it ?, don't think it's as tuneable as a zetec but it's a tough old thing.

It sounds like it must be the DOHC (i think its only 8 valve the similar fwd rs2000 engine is 16). Its supposed to be easy to wire. Is it manual if so it should have an mt75 gearbox on the back. It's not a pinto but was used instead of in the s ierra so should be nearly as easy to fit. Go for it.

cheers peeps yeah its an 8 valve, one like fwd rs 2000 but named dohc shame its bolted to a auto box though , spoke to dave et retro and he said it aint worth the hassle takin it out no one does any parts for it ie water rail sump etc etc so still in two minds what to do ???????? so if you all still think its a good idea drop me a line cheers joby king
