BIG G Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Didnt doc have an rst engine in his 100e
BIG G Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 The turbo on its manifold sits about 8 inches away from the block in total.as for the pipework wont matter about reworking as thats whatya do when a bigger intercooler goes in.
FlashCadillac Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 i need to find someone with an rsturbo... i need a measurement from the front of the block to the start of the exhaust pipe after the turbo to soo if i can get it in a capri engine bay
FlashCadillac Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 you'd get two of um in a capri bay. i like your confidence... but i cant help thinkint it wont fit.... the turbo seems to stick out a long way out of the back on the engine and dont forget its going the other way around in the engine bay
mk1mexico Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 The turbo comes out of the front of an RST head mate
FlashCadillac Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 The turbo comes out of the front of an RST head mate surely the cam belt is the front bit... dizzy at the back the turbo is behind the dizzy?
mk1mexico Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 An rs turbo is Front wheel drive you know that?? The engine sits transversely in th bay. The turbo comes out the front. Turned 90 degrees to RWD application the turbo will be on the passenger side of the capri bay
BIG G Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Its the side that webbers stick out on a pinto and they protude 10-12" from the block so a rst garret will be no probs
FlashCadillac Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 An rs turbo is Front wheel drive you know that?? The engine sits transversely in th bay. The turbo comes out the front. Turned 90 degrees to RWD application the turbo will be on the passenger side of the capri bay yep well aware its FWD and if you read what i said, im putting it in a RWD therefore refering to the exhaust manifold side of the engine as the side of the engine and the cam belt on the front as this is how it will sit in my engine bay this mean that the turbo that is at the front of the mk3/4 esocrt engine bay and runst left to right will now run front to back, the turbo sticks out a lot further than the extreams of the engine in the mk3/4 escort and therefore in my car will stick out a fair way towards the bulkhead.... im wanting to know if i can get the turbo in the engine bay without have a big chunk missing from my bulkhead
FlashCadillac Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 Its the side that webbers stick out on a pinto and they protude 10-12" from the block so a rst garret will be no probs but what about the other direction..... fook it... ill draw a diagram
mk1mexico Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 you'd get two of um in a capri bay. the turbo seems to stick out a long way out of the back on the engine Sorry mate i get you now, it was this part of the post of yours that confused me. Yes as they come out of the front of the head they do sway left a bit so it would be close to the bulkhead. But it would clear it easily i think. How you mounting this engine anyway for starters?? Or do i sense a ZVH build??
