X-pack-Glyn Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Right then, i need to know is there a right way and a wrong way of breaking ones arm? the reason im asking is because the crap im putting up with at work is becoming unbearable, however.......... upon checking my contract it seems they will pay for a major broken bone 6 months paid leave, this i find very tempting, even if afyter 6 months i dont have a job to go back to... the idea of 6 months paid leave is well worth a broken arm in my opinion.... so, id like some advice from anyone thats had a broken arm, was it painfull, how long was it in the cast for etc etc... and if i couldf have some doctors advice please on whats the safest bone to break, what repairs the quickest etc etc, some info would be real handy on all this. Cheers. G.
antz Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 your bloody mad glynn! i did my wrist in and it hurts like fook, especially if they cast up your elbow you get major cramp! and i was in pot for 6 weeks.....
FredTransit Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 don't do it! You never know what might happen when you try to break something, could end up with all kinds of complications.
Wessie Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 i broke my collarbone after dislocating my shouler/destroyed all nerves-tensons-muscles etc it hurt like fook the morning after ! that was end of august and its still not right now still gives me grief and i cant hold my arm up above a certain height otherwise i cant feel my fingers i wouldnt recommend doin it at all ! but a simple break of the arm might be ok ?
X-pack-Glyn Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 Dont get me wrong, im not a scammer and have allways paid my way in life and never claimed a penny, but the crap im putting up with at work is doing me more harm than a broken arm, i sleep about 3 hours a night normally, yet sleep like a baby at weekends even in sub zero temps at the side of some lake. trouble is if i get signed off for stress you get 2 weeks normally and still have to go back to the same old crap, i was thinking of a more long term solution. at the moment im just thinking out loud, but i am considering my idea as an entirely viable option.
surfingturnip Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 claim insanity? its easier and less painfull than breaking a bone
dannyboy Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I broke my leg 14 years ago, and I can still feel it now, scares the fook out of me playing football. Saying that i did my arm when I was 6 and its fine, had a cast on for 4 weeks and a sling after that for 2. fell over ontot a curb playing footy. Not sure the best way of faking it, but my back is taking a bashing at work, lifting stupidly heavy things round obsticles, easier to fake a bad bake than actually go through with breaking an arm.
Chris! Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 i broke my collar bone.....i fell off a bunk bed when i was 8
flyingbanana Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 get some one to drive the fork truck over your foot or arm while you are fixing it

X-pack-Glyn Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 get some one to drive the fork truck over your foot or arm while you are fixing it Great minds , sadly most trucks would probably crush the limb way beyond repair. the easiest way of braking an arm i suppose would be so shove it in a mast bewteen the inner and outer lashes and lift, that would make a nice clean brake for sure, and over in a milisecond. if i did it at work where it may need to happen anyway i have to make damn sure im following every safety rule going and wearing full PPE gear, which is basicly everything... it will probably get messy with the paperwork but if i break my right arm i wouldnt be able to write. im prefering the idea of a lower shin bone to be honest, as i could still go fishing then, wouldnt be easy but could be done.
old skool freestyler Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 this thread scares me but very cleaver at the same time
X-pack-Glyn Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 this thread scares me but very cleaver at the same time basicly mate, depends how you look at it really..... its not the £10k for the broken arm thats tempting me, its the quality time id get to spend with my family and the stress would be totally lifted, i honestly believe the grief im having is doing more harm than a broken bone can do. im seriously thinking about this one though.

X-pack-Glyn Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 yeah, been looking ages, anything that involves field service that doesnt have a callout will do.

Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 18, 2008 Admin Report Posted February 18, 2008 I think you should try and claim sick money for your itchy bum first as it will be less painful than a broken arm Have a look at the small print and see if you are covered
jpayne Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Are you covered for a broken limb outside of work and work hours? If you do it at work wont there be an investigation! Carefull which bone you break! based on this whole thread Im guessing your youngish and tough (to think about doing it, young! to believe you have the guts to do it, Tough!) Bones contain amongst other things a thick greasy substance called yellow marrow (fatty cells). Once a bone is broken this marrow can seep into the blood stream and settle in th eheart or the brain, then if you are unlucky you die. It is particularly a problem in the big bones of fit strong young men. Big bones mean lots of marrow. And its not that uncommon. upper leg bones are the worst and the upper arm bone as well. Dont forget the forearms and lower legas are actually two bones and a break here can lead to complications in wrists and ankles. An xray will show up any anomolies with the break and If I was investigating the award of 6 months paid leave for a broken bone of a known disgruntled employee id be asking for the x-rays to determine how it happened. Especially if it was claimed to have happened at work where you would be most entitled to paid leave. Id think seriously about this before you do it. Bad luck and youll die, slightly better luck and youll have a broken limb with future complications, have lost your jobb and no pay and be hit with a conviction for attempted fraud. tread carefully.
