Calling all computer boffins

Can anyone recommend a good registry cleaner that's available as a free download? All the ones I've found say free, but then hit you with a demand for money once they've scanned it and before they'll fix it.

 

Depending which product I scan my registry with, it has between 1000 and 2100 faults so I guess I need to do something about it?

Spybot is free and pretty good. Shame I have an infected registry with a file that disables the program
