Toby Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 im talking about converting to 18splines from 16spines when using the stock open diff with a Phantom diff lockerso as its the stock diff its possibly different and not as complicated? ive just ordered a diff lock from Cambridge Motorsport Parts so ill be able to comment on the install soon Is that an Atlas you're running cos the big shafts wont fit in a stock english diff, the bearings are too small to get a hole big enough in the diff.
mrmoo Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Is that an Atlas you're running cos the big shafts wont fit in a stock english diff, the bearings are too small to get a hole big enough in the diff. ive been given a salisbury axle off an mgb its got a 3.9cwp so allows for the 265/50/15s extra rolling radius, narrower by 6inchs so it should pull the wide wheels back inside the archs
Toby Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Ah I see mate, keep us posted on how that all fits. What's a sailsbury like? Heavy? Strong? Front loader? Available ratios? etc
mrmoo Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Ah I see mate, keep us posted on how that all fits. What's a sailsbury like? Heavy? Strong? Front loader? Available ratios? etc will do its quite heavy, but then ive not dropped the atlas yet so it maybe the same?? everything ive heard about it is good, been told its got a rep as a budget drag axle from "back in the day" also if you check any ford mag youll find a lot of the parts listed for the english axle are shown as for english/salisbury so they must be atleast closely related cwps are available from the stock 3.9:1 to over 5:1 heres the exploded diagram for the salisbury hope this explains what i cant lol
Toby Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Looks heavy and difficult to swap ratios, but if it's strong with plenty of bits available it should do you proud! Why go from an atlas to that?
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Sailsbury 4HA is very very strong , much stronger than an atlas but overkill unless on some mental boost nitrous turbo jobbie or 7 litre yankie drag car etc
Retromotorsport Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 I'm pretty damm sure thats not a 4 or 7 HA .. and yet is dosnt look like the 1 ton dumper 5HA ... ??? hmmm heres a 4HA
mrmoo Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 duno about the diagram, it was sent to me to help out been told you have to pull the drive shafts, remove the rear cover, undo the 4bolts (2either side) to release the bearings and the diff falls out so its the same as the atlas to remove the diff?? and yes, its going to be a monster nos install 150bhp system at the moment once testing is completed its going upto 350bhp and beyond
Toby Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Is all that nos going into your V6 then? Will it cope with that, or should we watch this space, and the one above us!! Look out Mars incoming Essex head!!
mrmoo Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 could be, but only if it can break arp studs ive had the major internals inspected by trev langfield at wizards the only suspect item was the pistons so ive had a set of forge pistons made look to the skys, the cow flew over the moon
mrmoo Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 yeah i should really start a thread on it lol what an idea
