escort greg Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 For the money your spending just get a fostec axle
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Ok thanks for the advise Baz . I need to save up for the full monty Tran-x package really then with the 18 spline beasts just in case . Until then i'll be doing it in style on the genuine ford 1100L halfshfts
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 For the money your spending just get a fostec axle not for £1100 you won't , his axles are Atlas ones and are much more expensive plus they weigh a ton . Needed on a tarmac rally car etc etc but i don't need one luckly
escort greg Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Ive got a fostec atlas axle and it wasnt as expensive as that
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Well an Atlas that's got a new LSD , 4:1 cwp , shorthened to fit so needs new shafts etc etc is £2000+ . I've been looking at all the info on them for the last 6 months and gave up in the end . I must be getting tight in my old age !!!!!!!!
105Ian Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 But if you get an Atlas axle , you will be able to not worry again as you should not be able to break that , I had this trouble with what to do with my Anglia axle , by the time I had had new shafts and a new diff unit , the money that would have cost me , I bit the bullit and went for a Fostek atlas axle instead . As you say they are not cheap but quality never is , but knowing you will always be able to drive it like you want to and not have to worry will make the thought of the cost dissaper .
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 I 100% agree with everyone about buying the best bits from day one but the Atlas set up is very expensive . I really wanted a pucker Atlas for my car but they cost + weigh too much and all the secondhand ones i've seen have been either too wide , have turbo style gear ratios or are from foooooked rally cars etc !!!!!! . All the rapid south london pintos are launching harder than i'll ever do and they still run on normal uprated english axles . I don't really need anythng else (except money)

Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 I need £3000 in that case then for a pucker Atlas . It would be funny if my 1100L english axle copes ok though , it's not broken yet after i've abused it rotten !!!!!!!!
Toby Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 I need £3000 in that case then for a pucker Atlas . It would be funny if my 1100L english axle copes ok though , it's not broken yet after i've abused it rotten !!!!!!!! Nothing breaks shafts like the Pod though mate IKT!! Don't mess about with the small english stuff copy the quick Pintos and go 18 t big side gears, it's the cheepest, lightest way. The CWP may not cope with your BBBBBBBBBAAAARPPPP for long though
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 no hard Santa pod launches and staying on A539's will save me £1100 or £3000
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 what about the "Anglia axles are stronger" myth then ? . Is it a myth or not ? Any of the Anglia posse run slicks at the pod on standard 105E shafts then ?
Baz. Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 i think you will find petrolhead was using anglia shafts, no good mate

Baz. Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 stick with wot you have , untill you have enough doh to do it right
LEONMEX Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 I guess people say they are stronger as they are shorter & not as thrashed as most escort shafts? my mate runs standard anglia shafts on his 105e with 185bhp pinto & no probs no the road, but maybe a different story at the pod
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 stick with wot you have , untill you have enough doh to do it right Could be a long wait then as my credit cards still reeling from the pre-xmas engine management bashing !!!!!!! . I might have some money in 2009 though !!!!!!!
