escort greg Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Like your motor gaz but you could have put a bleed valve on a standard cosworth turbo engine and it would be more powerful and less expensive
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Like your motor gaz but you could have put a bleed valve on a standard cosworth turbo engine and it would be more powerful and less expensive Yes but they sound shite and need 400bhp to run 14's at brunters on street tyres !!!!!!!

Fiesta Steve Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Like your motor gaz but you could have put a bleed valve on a standard cosworth turbo engine and it would be more powerful and less expensive Yes but they sound shite and need 400bhp to run 14's at brunters on street tyres !!!!!!! Very true, you need a lot more than 400 bhp to keep up with a little 150 bhp crossflow around a track
alladdin Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 your certainly looking at the right area as once your engine hits 6300 rpm and 205 bhp its all down hill from there. thats std transit revs........ downhill i imagine there must be more to be had at the top.
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Errrr power reaches 215 bhp limit at 7300rpm before dropping off , it still has a 100 bhp a litre though at 8250 rpm on 100% pump fuel and a quiet twin box exhaust
alladdin Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 yes sorry, i didnt put what i meant very well. what im trying to get at is that it makes 200+ from 6150 to 8250 but the power climb starts to tail off more sharply after 6300. given that you said you can use 9k then i would have thought you should be able to find a bit more on the way up before it drops off. make sense?
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Yes mike that's the plan mate but actually doing it is something else !!!!!!!
Supercharged Nat Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 reading this is spuring me on to time my cam in properly, map the ignition timing some more and finish jetting the carb!
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 nice one mate , if you like engines then it becomes addictive as every little tweek makes a difference . Only problem is sometimes the difference is worse !!!!!!!
Supercharged Nat Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 thats the only bit i cant measure that acurately- whether its in the good or bad direction. the only way i can tell is to time the car along the same stretch of tarmac driving the same each time as much as possible.- ive got a rolling road 2 mins down the road from me but its £45 a pop! nice work btw.
alladdin Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 also you need to remember that in order to gain that last few bhp , you might loose some of that broad top end spread. does look a little more possible tho. (having said that, what would i know )

Very true, you need a lot more than 400 bhp to keep up with a little 150 bhp crossflow around a track i didnt have more than that and i got pass you in the end steve ,although it did take a few laps
