thesmith Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 just a word of warning to anyone thinking of fitting an anglia axle into mk1 escort, after tacking on the spring saddles i thought id just do a trial fit , When i tried my 15 " ml,s on they were nearly touching the inner part of the wing even with 1" spacers fitted, NOT HAPPY! Because of the offset of my wheels their isent enough clearance , so ive painted my old axle and putting back in ! . Does anyone want an anglia axle ?
PIG Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 gaz,cos he will soon piss his one out at the pod
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 gaz,cos he will soon piss his one out at the pod an Anglia axle is approx 4 inches shorter than an Escort axle , i measured one yesterday
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Nah , later mate . Going to chop an inch off mine
PIG Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 WHAT,your misses said you needed to add another inch m8
mk1matt Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 the anglia axle you need is the van one as its only 2" shorter than a std escort. were as a anglia saloon axle is 4" shorter.
hotrodholty Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 you've got me worried as iiv just welded the new spring seats on mine can you tell me what back spacing your 15" wheels are, iv got 7 x 15s coming with a 4" back spacing (hub-rim width)

Mate why dont you give the spacers to someone to turn half an inch off each? i'd do it for nothing if you were local.... *whoops* miss read your post thought u said they were nearly rubbing the wing
Toby Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 If you then go for the escort two piece shafts (cut down) I'm not sure (they did on mine) have more offset than the standard GT shafts so maybe it will be ok with the uprated shafts

Toby Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 They're 2 piece quaife shafts I was refering to. When I bought escort ones for mine the bearing to hub offset was too big so I made some narrower ones - only 1/4" or so but enough of a difference. Having re-read your post would it not be possible to use thicker spacers?
