..Mk2 Escort 1.6L

A couple of mates have just bought this. Recently imported to our shores. Its only had one owner from new covering just 17000km (thats approx 12000 miles in English money) I cant ever remember hearing such a quiet and healthy sounding crossflow. The car is totally original having had NO welding or panels whatsoever! Just a few minor thouch ups with a spray can. It was very well Ziebarted when new (probably too well). The underside is totally lathered in the stuff. 1/4 inch thick in places  Even the axle, crossmember, engine block & sump got covered. You can see where it's melted off the rear drum backplates when they got warm! It's obviously done a good job of protecting it from the Sweedish climate which I believe is even more miserable than ours..

It's got a few quirky European spec items fitted like "snooker table green" bata cloth seats + matching door cards etc. Headlight wash & wipe with unique headlight glass featuring little stoppers to prevent the wipers from sweeping too far :thumbsup: with matching oversized washer bottle. Its also got some strange emisions control device on the underside of the inlet manifold..

..and finally a couple of pics of another mates Clio Hotrod. He was there today doing the corner weights. It runs a 2.2 Pinto and made 180@ the wheels recently on Bogg Bros dyno

looks good (apart from the seats  ) whats the

plans for it then ??

welcome to the site, what plans have you got for the mk2 :)

Welcome to the site? That's a little belated, I've been on ere since April last year... Thankyou anyway

Anyway, plans are to bust it for spares. The shell is gonna be sold off to a well known company who builds Gp4 spec Escorts. Apparently they're after left hookers to build and send abroad. Most of the other bits will be sold, probably on the bay.

 Pinto powered RWD Clio, now I've seen it all!

Yeah, it's different! This formula of racing uses mainly semi or fully spaceframed chassis with a 3door hatch body wrapped around it. Either steel or plastic. There are still a few Starlets & Escorts competing with him too. Powerwise, they usually run Pinto's or XE's.
