mk1super Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I was asked by a guy at work today why i thought osfs were cool ( he drives a sunny gti 4wd thing ) and wanted one ( was reading classic ford at the time) i said "They look different and go sideways" he replied " Why dont you buy a mx5 they have a lsd and will go sideways and are alot less trouble and cheaper too" I finished my lunch in silence and then walked off in disgust. I really wish i wasnt such a magnet to numpties
Durham Fiesta Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 used to get it where i used to work. they used to think everything was governed by BHP figures. Would never believe me and that a 150bhp OSF could hold its own on a track with a lot more powerful machinery
zetecmk2 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 how often does the mx-5 owner get greeted with "MY DAD HAD ONE OF THOSE"? good enough for me!
razersedge Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 i would have said to him "yes but mx5 drivers are boy touchers" any way have you driven one when you turn the lights on you can loose cars in the blind spots
MEXY867M Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 if anyone ever say`s anything to me I would say it what I like and its a real car none of this driving aid crap, just rough and ready and raw, thats the way I like it.
richie_stix Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 my girlfriend is always telling me to get something more reliable... she just doesn't understand OSF's are not a way to get from A to B, but a lifestyle! she even blamed my car when someone else hit it, she said "if you had a modern car this never would of happened"! the bloody cheek
surfingturnip Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 ask him why he chooses to drive a plastic lunchbox with a dump valve that sounds like a turkey gobbling
FredTransit Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Unreliable? Expensive? What modern car can be fixed by the side of the road with some wire, cable ties or whatever you have to hand, can burst into flames in the morning or one month (Mk1 transit, Mk2 transit) and pass the MOT in the afternoon or appear on Ant and Dec three months later (Mk1 and Mk2 transit)? Also, two words, classic insurance...... The worst thing is hearing 'why don't you buy a new van?' from a mechanic or parts shop, the best thing is answering ' I wouldn't be here then would I?'
hotrodholty Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 my girlfriend is always telling me to get something more reliable... she just doesn't understand OSF's are not a way to get from A to B, but a lifestyle! she even blamed my car when someone else hit it, she said "if you had a modern car this never would of happened"! the bloody cheek my missus is the same mate

Gonzo Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 All anyone's gotta do is look at tazrock's avatar .gif. What other car looks *that* cool going sideways screaming it's nuts off?
Trevmk3 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 i get it all the time from some people at work and people when im at the pub who own saxos and 306's, i just usually tell them to come out for a drive in it and find out why, but i wouldnt want to many saxo owners being in the car as they might stain the seats as it weould be the first real car they have ever been in
Lardy Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 I call my car the mistress as when ever me and the wife have an argument no matter what the arguments about she brings the capri into it and she knows it winds me right up ,and she keeps telling me to scrap it and buy a new car feel like scrapping her sometimes
badchild Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Theres no soul to a modern car, just a dull sea of black plastic, its like visitng a sick relative you just come away from it depressed theres just no feel good factor to them, someting that puts a smile on your face. But when you got your arse plonked on a recaro with a screamin crossflow/pinto/etc you want to drive for miles, id rather drive my escort than any car enzo ferraris knocked off the production line anyday
mk1super Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 He attempted to engage me in conversation again today this time to ask what i thought of the Nissan skyline powered focus on the front cover of Lax power I said "mate it looks like a door wedge on wheels " His reply was "its a slippery shape to cut through air better" I said yes a door wedge on wheels I said then "wouldnt it be cheaper to just buy a bike if you want to go really fast" This seemed to royaly confuse him as he went silent, it was bliss How do i rid myself of this moron without getting a spell in the nick or the loss of my job???

razersedge Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 just tell him that any idiot can drive a piece of plastic with traction control or other oh sh!t saving device, but an old car you have to be able to drive to drive an old car like you stole it and if you can't it's going to hurt and then say i need the insurance money would you like to drive a real car
caprinerd Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 tell him your motor was built properly and where will his be in 20 years
