FlashCadillac Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 mine will have 8 cylinders.... does that rule out any compotition beween us at all then?
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 you can compare yours to mine if you like but i won't .
Lardy Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I saw a program once about street racing in the states using jap rubbish but they had seperate races for people using NOS and those without very competetive especially in the without NOS races to the point where people were actually hiding the system so they could race in the no NOS class therefore CHEATING might I also add this was a RWYB type of meet all be it relativly unorganised. I am in agreement with GAZ on this that its not cheating as this being too strong but what is the difference to using NOS as using a supercharger or turbo....None.
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 The difference is turbos and superchargers don't stop working after 30 seconds as they don't "run out" . Also they are a mechanical part of the engine and not just a "magic spray" . Here's a "Sneaky Pete" nos kit , you'll be amazed where these can be hidden
Lardy Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 fair play Ill keep my nose out and stick to stuff I know...Now where are the posts about pork sausages
Burns Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 fair play Ill keep my nose out and stick to stuff I know...Now where are the posts about pork sausages adults room don't worry, this is a long running debate about the use of nos, i don't think you've upset anyone
surfingturnip Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 thing is Gaz, if you manage to beat a car running nos in you 'fully street legal, nothing missing, no slicks, nos or turbo car' will the person using nos still have been cheating? or will it just be more bragging rights for you?
zetecmk2 Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 gaz, why dont you fit nos to yours, with those internals, it would be great to see what it's capable of you don't have to use it so you can still chase your personal goal of a fast n/a engine on a street legal osf. but you get the added benefit of another goal to aim for, nos!! i dont know how the map has to be changed for nos, but another rr session to get the best out of nos would be a cheap way to another big grin change the map for nos or gaz rules!!
brettp Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 nos is the best thing i ever fitted on my car with the new engine i am going to try a 200 shot with a progressive controler
Retromotorsport Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 So NOS is banned in all racing/motorsport events except certain drag racing events . Why's that do you think ? Do you think it's because it's not a proper engine tuning method then ? explosive gas cylinders inside cars that may be involved in collisions .. is one reason
Retromotorsport Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 And as for street trim ... i've seen door cars with holes drilled in the hardboard backing, seats without the springs .. non inertia reel belts (still got belts) extra thin carpets .. headlings with thinner gauge wires in .. heaters with no matrixes .. etc etc etc .. It dosnt matter what trim or lack off you have .. its the cars weight that matters .. a stripped out Rally car weighs more than a standard car .. fact

mk1super Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Here's a "Sneaky Pete" nos kit , you'll be amazed where these can be hidden Under bike seat units for a deffo
MK2Ed Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 So, so far, Gas can be used on the 1/4 mile and technically it's not cheating... However for some engine tuning purists and in all forms of organised motorsport it's a definite no no... But some people are into it for the smiley factor and as a performance enhancer... and in un-official racing cars could be split into 2 classes, dependant on your persuasion, and it is here that you could compare like for like with your brothers brother - hope I haven't missed anything...
Retromotorsport Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 The thing is in racing if the rules allow a particular mod its up to the owner/driver to use it .. ie you can weld a cage in .. but the minimum is a 6 point bolt in .. now the weld in cage guy isnt cheating by having one ..and the 6 point bolt in isnt cheating by not using one..hes just not getting the advantage in having an extremely stiff shell . or the rule say you can arch the car and run a maximum width of 10" wheels.. now one guy stays on 7" under standard arches and another uses 10" wide wheels under modded arches .. the wide tyre guy isnt cheating as its allowed in the rules. So in dragracing where Nos is allowed the guy using nos isnt cheating ..hes using everything he can within the rules to go as quick as possible in his chosen charriot down the 1/4 mile ... which when i was last looking at dragracing was the idea ... to go as fast as possible .. Those who arnt using Nos .. are allowed to within the rules .. so they can either use it or not use it ..but they cant call others cheaters because they arnt..its allowed .. Its really simple ... Is NOS allowed in RWYB events and OSFDC events ??? YES so no one in those events is cheating ..
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 gaz, why dont you fit nos to yours, with those internals, it would be great to see what it's capable of I could do but the cars fairly dangerous as it is plus i would be kidding myself cos it's not real power only a temp add on . Going quick without gas is more of a challenge anyway and no one can say "but what's it go like without the gas then"
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 And as for street trim ... i've seen door cars with holes drilled in the hardboard backing, seats without the springs .. non inertia reel belts (still got belts) extra thin carpets .. headlings with thinner gauge wires in .. heaters with no matrixes .. etc etc etc .. A rally car would be even heavier if they put back all the bits they've taken off !!!!!!!
Retromotorsport Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 A rally car would be even heavier if they put back all the bits they've taken off !!!!!!! would they ???
Mr.Sumo Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I haven"t got GAS , i got a CROSSFLOW ..... i got door cards , stereo , 6 point cage....mmm...headlining , standard seats ...mmm... harnesses...oh, , but the carpets missing at the moment ....... Wanna race Gaz ?
