I think exhaust wrapping can trap moisture and cause the manifold to corrode over a long period of time. I do no that the likes of Demon Tweeks, Rally design, etc stock it.

Cheers. Tom

It may look pretty cool but it seriously shortens the life of the manifold mate.

I wish it was for that form of coolness mate  Being a pre crossflow with a tubular manifold, it puts out serious amounts of heat which is aimed at my float chambers.

Apart from this wrapping, the only other thing I could try is make a pair of heat shields. :?

I think this fella is the importer, so he might do you a deal....

I have had exhaust manifolds fall appart - wrapped and un-wrapped.

It is supposed to cook the carbon out of the steel in time and weaken them, but with a pre-crossflow you're a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place. £50 a roll sounds about right, and you need the snap lock stuff which is £25 or so from memory.

Power gains from the theoretical enhanced extraction - not sure, but under bonnet (under carb in your case) temperature definately better.

Lets looks at averages ..

50 quid to wrap it ... 2008

50 quid to re-wrap it 2009

50 quid to re-wrap it 2010

50 quid to re-wrap it and another 30 to get the broken stud out 2011

50 quid to re-wrap it 2012 so it looks good in the olympic display

I know which one i would go for ...

I have used it for years, and not had any problems with corrosion, but it does degrade over a period of time, Real Steel in Uxbridge keep it in stock.

Cheapest place to buy the wrapping, Look for your local boiler suppliers, Not B&Qs, they normally keep a useable product that will be about half the price of most of the normal suppliers,

Or do nothing as air is not a great conductor of heat.

I spotted on another post you were running some funky Stromberg set up and they were stickin up in the air like a rude girls ass when shes on heat, a good distance from the manifold.

Try it first and see if you get problems dont see the point in spendin cash to solve problems you aint got.
