cairo is a complete dump

yeah thats pretty much all i hear about cairo, destroyed by tourism.

Not the tourism that's killed Cairo, there are lots of slums there, there was a dead horse in a drainage dirch we went past, it is the fourth most polluted city in the world. The Pyramids are right alongside the city too. I would agree, forget the pyramids, not a great trip out, too many people trying to give you 'gifts' (they run at you when they see you), and they also offer to take pictures for you with your camera then want paying for it.

Take the trip to Luxor and Valley of the Kings, much better trip, well worth the money, I think I would do that one again.

Take some alcohol handwash though, as the money is supposed to be very dirty, we both got mild tummy bugs, didn't ruin the holiday, just meant some entertaining noises coming from the bathroom!
