On monday night i was out with my brother in the mk2 and we went to a car cruise not far from my home. On the way home i put my foot down from the lights and i got a spray of something over the windscreen, i thought it was raining, but oh no it wasnt rain, it was oil!

Then i looked down and saw the oil light flicker, so turned the engine straight off and pulled over.

There was oil everywhere, all over the n/s inner wing and underneath the car and over the passenger side disc.

After looking for ages to see what it was that caused it, it turned out to be the oil filter that came loose

So called the rac and got it towed home.

And after hours of cleaning everything and taking most of the stuff off the engine to clean it, i put a new oil filter on and tightened it up really tight and put fresh oil in it, i started it last night and have good oil pressure and no rattles, thank god it was ok, couldnt afford to repair it now, so im really pleased its ok :ykt::thumbsup:

You know that mate. Personally I would have been in mild panic mode right up until that good oil pressure time ... :ykt:

I'd planned to "nip" my engine up this weekend - now it's definitely on the agenda oil filter n'all...

I've never heard of them coming loose before. They always seem to tighten themselves if anything. That's good to know. At least you caught it in time mate!

Old Ford engines are pretty though.

I did a track day at brands and quarter of an hour around Silverstone at 8k+ with the oil light on at every right hand corner

Lasted quite well I thought

Glad the engines ok m8

Nice one mate. I think I know the story but kept getting distracted by your avatar ;) I've had some close calls too. A few things do come loose every now and then and I've shat myself when they do haha. Something came loose in the engine and started sounding like a VW Combi, that's scary.
