project_pearl Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Hello all, my problem i have brought some double ended studs for my mk1 fiesta for my revolutions to check they fitted and then i re-painted so look mint, so thought i better get the centre caps and new sleave nuts for them from midlands wheels and to my shock the new bolts were slightly to big for the holes in the wheels, rung them and he said send an old bolt and we will match it, he has sent out a sleave nut buts its shorter because thats the only ones they have, he said a minamium of 3 turns are needed, i think i got about 4, but im not happy that they are shorter than they should be. Im tempted to get the wheel holes turned out so i can fit the normal sleave nuts, they stock. Im guessing mine are imperial and not metric?! Sorry for the essay but can anyone help its getting me down
flyingbanana Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 i had problems when first fitted my old set....to find out if you have metric or imperial put them on half way and if they wobble you have the wrong ones... what about fitting longer wheel studs which speed shack will sell....and then you can cut them down to correct length
project_pearl Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 Thanks for the response the studs are fine and all the nuts have fitted on the studs fine, its just the sleeve are a slightly to wide! Do you think the ones that fit with a smaller sleeve will be a problem with only 4 turns?! Will try speedshack 2mo anyone no where there based?! Thanks again charlie
project_pearl Posted May 11, 2008 Author Report Posted May 11, 2008 Turns out the hole size in my wheels are an imperial measurement and midlands wheels have sent me metric studs and sleeve nuts and they dont do the length sleeve nut i need in imperial! Does anyone know where i can get both imperial studs and sleeve nuts or am i gonna have to give up with these wheels Any help would be appreciated, thanks Charlie
project_pearl Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Spoke to someone at speedshack and he said they no longer do the small ones, so he perfectly recommended getting the holes drilled out on the wheels by 1.5 mm just gotta find someone to do it it know Thanks for the help guys, Charlie
Messenjah Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 why not just get the nuts turned down ? surely be cheaper
