Dom Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 How big an impact does fitting nos have on your car? And if you were to, for instance, plumb the system in but leave a wire to the button disconnected would that class the system as not being installed?

Dom Posted November 17, 2006 Author Report Posted November 17, 2006 Well I was thinking that if you had an alarm on a car and it got stolen because the alarm wasn't wired in properly then the insurance company could class the car as not having an alarm

You can fit a nitrous kit and not use it on the road, but (with my insurance company anyway) you must remove the bottle or insurance is invalid. This means REMOVE THE BOTTLE and not just discommect it. Nothing else will do!

60ftman Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 My insurance company know the car is fitted for nitrous, but we've 'agreed' that the bottle is removed when it's being used on the road. Bit of a bummer really as I could do with the extra power.

Danmex Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 There was a post on here about a year ago about some guy who's insurance company wouldn't pay out just because they thought he had nitrous, there was nothing fitted to the car and he'd never had it, but an assesor or something found a blanked off hole in his intake manifold and jumped to the conclusion it was for a nitrous injector

So you can use the gas up the strip but on the way home your as slow as before or you can risk it on the street and quickly take out the bottle and hide it in the bushes if you have a crash .

They will do anything to get out of paying up these days so be very carefull . My mate Andys car caught fire in italy a few months back and the insurance company refused to pay out because they saw his car on the T.V. doing the cannonball run !!!!

brettp Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 i had nos on the car when my mate crashed into me and wrote the car of the old bill turned up looked at the nos system tryed to get my insurance void because he was a prick inpounded my car then had a mechanical inspection done on the car but some how the nos system got diconnected before the police photograher got there this made for a very very satisfying interview that the police found necessary to do under caution i took much satisfaction in pointing out that the photos he thought was going to show my nos kit wired up actually showed it dissconected i pointed out what a great use of police time i thought his investigatiod was left laughing at him and left
