ASBO CAPRI Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Went to watch some banger racing today. Saw 2 cappers and a mk5 cortina getting ragged round the track. They all died a horrible death. . One of the cappers looked like it had a pretty good body on it too but that one didn't even make it to the final round
supersport Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 my neighbour does it and has a cortina p100 in at the mo getting prepped for racing.
LEONMEX Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Love it or hate it as a rule osf's make for some hard hitting cars, ive done my share of wrecking old fords & do regret some ive raced but my escort is made up of alot of bits of cars that ive raced & scrapped so it ain't all bad
Mr Sam Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 my neighbour does it and has a cortina p100 in at the mo getting prepped for racing. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i seen a smashed up early jag (inspector morse type) on the back of a hi hab thing that had been bangered
FredTransit Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 my neighbour does it and has a cortina p100 in at the mo getting prepped for racing. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo You beat me to it!
Mr Sam Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 mind you my old P100 field car ended up as good as a banger car but i was young and naieve wish i still had it
bortaf Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 I just wish they would sell the cortina shells to me after the race lots of good pickings left after
ASBO CAPRI Posted May 26, 2008 Author Report Posted May 26, 2008 I know what u mean. I would'nt of minded the axle out the dead capper think it was a 1600 one
82bob Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 well why didnt you ask most banger boys will help you out. its better to burn out than fade away!!
Wessie Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 its only as capper ! they get raced all the time - theres alot nicer metal that gets raced, some really rare stuff
morcheen Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 you can't save them all,and there only crapis'
5hane Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 some really rare stuff arena essex firecracker, tonnes of old and rare beasts going round
Silverback Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 Luckily over here you don't see many osf's on the Oval, there's been a couple of Cappers and the odd Granada but mostly it's Sierras. Oldest thing I raced when I used to do it was an old Rover SD1, which I'm surprised it didn't snap when I loaded it on the trailer.....talk about rust
bortaf Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 some really rare stuff arena essex firecracker, tonnes of old and rare beasts going round dam right there is i usually supply some of em Last year it was a roller and 3 cortina shells It's no ggod telling people they are rusty and not worth saving, they allways know best, even the ones that have never been and know nowt about racing The way i look at it, it's yours, you paid for it do what the hell you want with it, besides everyone that gets raced makes mine worth more Seen many, MANY more get fragged uselessly by council tow aways and destruction notices thatn raced but then what do i know god the ammount of unfinished projects that end up on the track is amazing, i blame the people that dont finish em personly and put the car into the "racable" catagory, lets have a pol how many cars have been fecked up by wanabee restorers and left in such a state that racing is the only viable use for em Or maybey a poll where people have bought one to save it then let it sit so long it gets towed away and scrapped, is that any better ? worse i recon that's a total waist VIVA LA BANGER RACING
Guest Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Went to Yarmouth on Sunday to watch Classic Hot Rods and Classic Saloon Stocks was on, there was at least 3 MkI 'tinas out there which did make me wince a little, 3 MkII Cortina I think and one Anglia a few Triumph 2000 and some other shit Better formula than bangers though as the cars last longer and the sign writing on the doors is spelt right too
